GP.; ചുരക്കായി V1., ചുരങ്ങ the fruit, used as vessel by toddy-drawers (also ചുരത്തൊണ്ട് No., ചുരപ്പാത്രം, ചുരക്കുടുക്ക V1.). — ചുരപത്രം GP 65. the leaf, also ചുരങ്ങയില. — Kinds: കാട്ടു — also കൈപ്പച്ചുര, from the gourd of which the ചിരപ്പക്കുററി is made — കാട്ടുചു രങ്ങ തീര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ മുക്കിയവന്‍ N. pr., a low caste sage. നാട്ടു — Cucurbita lagenaria, the gourd serves as drinking vessel (ചുരങ്ങാത്തൊണ്ടു); പാല്‍ച്ചുരങ്ങ (കുത്തി ഉണക്കി a med.); പേച്ചുര a bitter gourd (S. കടുതുംബി). 2. a female screw; the part of an instrument which receives the handle, So. (see ചുറ). 3. (T. cow's udder) giving milk. ചു. കെട്ടുക to prevent the milk from flowing (by charms). ചു. വലിക്ക to withhold it.

čammala M. (Tdbh.; ശമലം; T. ചമ ലം—ലൈ filthiness. S. സമല Winsl.) = അലന്പു, പ്രയാസം — ചമ്മലയായി = Here is a mess; എടാ ചമ്മലേ what a bother! how annoying!
