čakkụ (Tdbh.; ചക്രം) 1. Oilpress, (ചക്കു കണ the roller of it, ചക്കുകൊക്കു a wood on the top of the pestle, ചക്കുരല്‍ the mortar); sugar-mill etc. ചക്കിന്‍റെ മുരട്ടു കുട്ടന്‍റെ ചേല്‍ prov. ചക്കിലിട്ടമര്‍ത്തീടും എള്ളുപോലെ Brhmd. ചക്കില കപ്പെട്ടൊരിക്ഷു പോലെ ഞെരിക്ക CG. Kinds: നാട്ടുചക്കു, കൊങ്ങന്‍ചക്കു MR. 2. measure of oil-fruits ഒരു ചക്ക് എള്ളു etc. Hence: ചക്കാട്ടുക to work an oilpress. VN. ചക്കാട്ടു — ട്ടം the pressing of oil, etc. ചക്കാന്‍ m.— ാത്തി f. oilpresser, So. ചക്കാല the shed of an oilpress. ചക്കാലവാണി യന്‍& ചക്കോന്‍ KN. the caste of oil-makers, also ചക്കുകാരന്‍ MR. ചക്കില്ലാത്ത വാണി യന്‍ KN. an oil-seller. ചക്കുതോക്കു a mortar TR.— ചക്കുണ്ട a bomb, hence: ചക്കുവെടി bombarding. ചക്കുപാര an instrument for taking oilcake out of the press. ചക്കുപുര = ചക്കാല, also ചക്കിനമൂടു.

čīla 5. (C. Te. ചീലു split) Cloth, esp. bag (ശീല). തുണി ചുറച്ചു ചീലമണ്‍ചെയ്തു, മൂ ന്നു താന്‍ അഞ്ചു താന്‍ ചീല ചെയ്ക a med. = പുടം a way of preparing medicines. (Old: നേ രിയ ചീല opp. പരുത്ത, ഉരത്ത = പുടവ V1.) — also the maw of animals V2.

čaṇgụ (Tdbh.; ശംഖം) 1. Conch ചങ്കുപ വിഴം പളുങ്കു a med. used as medicines. പു ളിഞ്ചങ്കിന്‍ ഇത്തി(ള്‍)പ്പൊടി TP. for betel. 2. throat. ച. കരയുക rattle in the throat, as of dying persons. ചങ്കും എടുത്തു (huntg.) prh. the heart & lungs of a hog (V1. heart). 3. N. pr. of man (ചംഗം S. clever). ചങ്കന്‍ 1. N. pr. 2. a caste of fishermen near Collam. 3. B. a fish. ചങ്കിടി (2) singing together, ച. പാടുക B. & ചങ്കിടിക്കാരന്‍ an assistant singer. ചങ്കിരി V2. = ശംഖുതിരി a screw.

čēla (S. ചേലം) 1. Cloth, esp. of women, f. നൂതനയായൊരു ചേല CG. പട്ടുനൂല്‍ ചേ. ക വര്‍ന്നു CG. പൂഞ്ചേല Bhr. (of a queen). 2. rough cloth = ചീല — so ആനച്ചേല elephant's covering V1. 3. No. boards joined to low-sided boats (ചേല കെട്ടുക). ചേലപ്പുടവ V1. a cloak, covering sheet. ചേലമരം Indian fig-tree, the bark of which serves as sackcloth (ചേല ചുററുക). ചേലാഞ്ചലംകൊണ്ടു മൂടി അണിമുഖം KR 3. veil, gaze.
