čār̀uγa (Te. C. ജാറു to slip, trip, T. to sweep) V1. To run off or out; to drizzle (fr. ചറു). ചാറന്‍ loc. hankering after women (ജാരന്‍). ചാറല്‍ (T. ചാരല്‍) drizzling rain; also മഴ ചാററല്‍, ചാററുമഴ (& പാററല്‍). ചാറു T. M. (C. സാ —, Te. ചേരു, C. Te. എ സരു). 1. sap of a palm-tree etc.; ചാറു ഊ ററുക No. slavering of children. 2. broth, soup. നല്ല ചാറും ചോറും കണ്ടില്ല (of pepper-water & curry eaten hot). 3. infusion, decoction. ഇഞ്ചിച്ചാ. ginger-tea, പുളിഞ്ചാറു, മു ളഞ്ചാറു or മുളകുചാറു etc. കുങ്കുമപ്പൂച്ചാററില്‍ VetC., കുങ്കുമച്ചാറു തന്‍ നന്മണം, മാലേയ ച്ചാറൂറും CG. — ചാറെറണ്ണക്കു മരുന്നു a med. ചാറുപെടുക V1. juice to run out. — ചാര്‍പ്പെ ടുക്ക to squeeze; met. to trouble one. ചാററുക 1. to drizzle V1. čēra T. Tu. (കേര) The ratsnake, Amphisbæna or Coryphodon, not venomous, but said to cause leprosy by its touch; (see അള). ചേര തിന്നുന്ന നാട്ടില്‍ prov. (S. ഡുണ്ഡുഭം). Kinds: മഞ്ഞച്ചേര prov. ചേരട്ട (C. Te. ജെരി, T. ചെവ്വട്ട red leech) centipede, millipede. കരിഞ്ചേ. (black), മല ച്ചേ. (3—4/?/ thick). ചേരട്ടപാന്പു V1. a kind of Cobra. (So. തേ രട്ട MC.)

čona V1. Red colour (ചെവ്?); ചൊ നയന്‍. V. n. ചൊനെക്ക to be red. ചൊന്നാന്‍ So. (hon., fr. സ്വര്‍ണ്ണം) a goldsmith.

čōḍụ 1. = ചുമടു (മുതല്‍ ഒക്ക ചോടായി കെട്ടി TP.) — ചോട്ടാളര്‍ Carriers. ഇരുമുടിചോ ട്ടുകാര്‍ Nal., ചോട്ടാര്‍ TP. 2. = ചുവടു step രണ്ടു ചോട് ഇങ്ങുവാങ്ങി PT., ചോടു പിടിച്ചു ചെന്ന ങ്ങനന്തനുള്‍പ്പുക്കു CC. ചോടുകള്‍ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പല്ലു കള്‍ പുറത്താക്കി PT. a lion preparing for his spring. ധാത്രിയില്‍ ചോടേ തുരന്നു Mud, undermined the ground. 3. = ജോടു, as കാല്‍ — a pair of shoes.
