KU. തൊടുവാശി contact. തൊ. തീര്‍ക്ക to avoid touching, what may be infected; to get removed, what infects തൊടുക്കാരം q.v. CV. തൊടുവിക്ക to make to touch, പുരയും കു ടിയും തൊടീക്കാതേ No. vu. prevent from touching; to make a mark with Sandal. തൊട്ടാലൊട്ടി an ear-snake, തൊ. ചവിട്ടിത്തേച്ച പോലേ prov. Aeschynomene pumila. adv. part, തൊട്ടു 1. beginning from ഇവിടേ ത്തൊട്ടയോദ്ധ്യാപുരത്തോളം KR., ആനനം തൊട്ടടിയോളവും CG. — temporally: ഇന്നു തൊട്ടിനിമേലില്‍ Bhr. ൭ ദിവസം തൊട്ടു തലക്കുത്തു, അന്നുതൊട്ടു, പണി തുടങ്ങിയോ ടും തൊട്ട ഇന്നയോളം TR. പൂരവങ്കന്നു തൊ ട്ടു ഭരതന്തങ്കലോളം പറഞ്ഞു Bhr. 2. on account of വേളിയെത്തൊട്ടുള്ള ഉത്സവം CG. അതിര്‍തൊട്ടു പിശകി VyM. ആ നിലം തൊ ട്ട ഒരു കാര്യം പറവാന്‍ ഉണ്ടു TR. 3. concerning, about കണ്ടതു തൊട്ടു പറഞ്ഞു etc. തൊട്ടുകുളി washing after touching one of lower caste, (see തീണ്ടിക്കുളി).

tōranam S. (തോര്‍) 1. A triumphal or ornamental arch, gate-way കാഞ്ചനതോ. എടുപ്പിച്ചു, നിവിര്‍ത്തി etc.; തോരണദ്വാരം Nal.; അണിത്തോ. SiPu. entranoe of the stage. 2. ornamental lines, strings of leaves & flowers hung across the streets or over the door-way. തോ. കെട്ടുക. 3. a post with an inscription or device V1., (as അതിര്‍തോ. V2.), തോ. കുത്തു ക, നാട്ടുക. 4. as much space as can be reached with the eyes V1.

taṇḍalar (അലര്‍, see തണ്ടാര്‍) Lotus-flower, ത. പൊയ്കയില്‍ CC.; ത. ശരന്‍ Kāma; തണ്ടലര്‍ബാണം ഏററു Mud.

taiḍụ (C. Tu. Te. T. തകടു V1.) Thin metal-plate, spangle; പൊന്ത. etc. gold-leaf, ഹാടകത്തകിടിട്ടു മൂടിയ മണിസ്തംഭം KR. — ത. അടിക്ക to beat out. തകിട a copper leaf written over & worn as amulet. തകിടം മാറുക B. to exchange, misapply; ത കിടം മാററം misappropriation (prob. drum = തകില്‍ f. i. തകിടമിഴാവിന്‍ ഓശ കേള്‍ക്ക Pay.) തകിട്ടുവൈരം a flat diamond. തകിടി 1. see തകടി 2. imitative sound of drumming തകിടിടി തകിടിടിന വാദ്യമുഴ ക്കം Pay.

taḍil (തഡ = തട്ടു) Lightning തടി ലിടെന്ത തയ്യല്‍ ജാനകി RC. slender like lightning. തടിലിടെന്തെകിറന്‍, തൂമവിളങ്ങും തടി ലെകിറന്‍ RC.

tuyaram T. aM. So. (= തുന്‍പം) l. tēγuγa & തേവുക M. (Tu. C. to sprinkle, Te. C. ദേവു to take out of the water) 1. To draw water, empty a well, bale out for irrigation. വിളകള്‍ക്കു (കണ്ടത്തിലേക്കു) വെള്ളം തേവി MR. watered the crops. തേകും ജലാ ന്തരത്തൂടെ കടന്നു PT. a fish escaped out of an emptying tank. വെള്ളം തേകീട്ടു മേല്പട്ടാക്കി irrigated. 2. No. to spatter, തങ്ങളില്‍ തേകി ത്തുടങ്ങിനാര്‍ കോമളക്കൈകൊണ്ടു CG. (in the river). തേക്കുകൊട്ട a watering bucket, V1. തേക്കുതോ ണി a boat for watering = തോണിത്തുലാം.

tēkkụ T. M., (Tu. C. തേഗു, Te. ടെകു). The Teak tree, Tectona grandis. Kinds: ക ല്ലന്‍ — the best, കോല്‍ — small, ഉമി — or നെയി — large, but of inferior value. Quite different plants are: ചെറുതേക്കു Clerodendrum siphonanthus (or serratum — B. Siph. ind.), വെണ്ടേക്കു & വെന്തേക്കു Lagerstrœmia microcarpa, both poor timbers; വെണ്ടേക്കിന്‍റെ തി രുള്‍ a. med. I.

tur̀uγa T. M. C. Te. 1. v. n. To be throngod, stuffed, close. തുററ കാടു, താടി thick, തൊണ്ട തുററു പോയി choking. തുററു നിറക to close, തുററുനില്ക്ക etc. 2. v. a. to cram; എലിമട പുല്ലുകൊണ്ട തുററുകളഞ്ഞു; to push in, മൂക്കില്‍ വിരല്‍ തുററുനിന്നു സംസാരിക്ക Anach. (attitude before superiors). തുറു & തുറുകു 1. a heap, തു. ആലുക, ഇടുക to make a stack of straw, വൈക്കോല്‍ തുറു ക്കള്‍. 2. a thicket overgrown with grass. തുറുതുറേ throngingly, pressingly. see തുരുതുര. CV. തുറുത്തുക 1. to force in, cram, stuff, തുറു ത്തിവെക്ക f. i. കുശത്തി താള്‍ എല്ലാം വാരി ത്തുറുത്തി prov. 2. v. n. = തുറിക്ക, as കുത്തു കൊണ്ടു കുടല്‍മാല തുറുത്തിയും Bhr. gushing out.

taḍa 5. (VN. of തടു) 1. Resistance, warding off, as with a shield. അടി തട മുതലായ വിദ്യകള്‍ Arb. fencing. അസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടു തട പൊറാഞ്ഞു AR.; വെട്ടും തടകളും SiPu.; തട വെ റുക്കരുതായിതേ RC. was not to be warded off. 2. what impedes, resists, stays or stops. — a prop. കൈക്കാരെ തടമേല്‍ വെച്ചു TP. on a sawing frame. തടയും കാലും horizontal & perpendicular supports. വാഴത്തട prop of plantain bunch, & plantain stem. തടയിടുക to impede. 3. the beam of a balance തടമേല്‍ തൂക്കി, തൂക്കേ ണ്ടതിന്നു കല്ലും തടയും ഒപ്പിച്ചു TR. 4. a plate made of stitched (interior) skin of plantain-trees or a hole in the ground, which, when covered with a leaf, is used to eat canǰi off, ത ടകോട്ടുക, വെക്ക B., കെട്ടുക, കുത്തുക No. 5. loc. No. തട വലിക്ക to harrow. Hence: തടക്കന്നു high grown plantain-shoot. തടക്കാരം (തടാരം) a prop. തടകൂടുക 1. to hinder. തടയും പിടിയും കൂടു ക to wrestle. 2. to be satisfied. തടങ്ങല്‍ hindrance, stoppage. VN. തടച്ചല്‍ impeding, stop, stumbling. തടയം (3) allowance made for the weight of a vessel in weighing. തടപ്പലം (3) 10 Rupees' weight, (diff. fr. എട — & നാട്ടു —). തടയുക 1. v. n. To be obstructed, വഴി ത ടഞ്ഞു RC. by armies. മാറില്‍ തടഞ്ഞു വിലങ്ങി ച്ചുപോയി CG. (food swallowed). — to be caught, entangled. നിലത്തു നോക്കാതേ തടഞ്ഞു വീഴുന്നു KR. to stumble. വള്ളി കാല്ക്ക തടഞ്ഞു (also കാല്‍ കല്ലോടു) prov., so ഇപ്പുല്ലു പാദേ ത.
