tṛδīyam S. (ത്രി ) Third. തൃതീയ (gramm.) The dative case; (astr.) the third day of the lunar fortnight. (തൃ): തൃത്താലിച്ചാര്‍ത്തു a Kshatriya marriage. തൃത്താവു (prob. താഴ്വു, the basin which holds the holy plant). Ocymum sanctum, തുളസി, also called നല്ല തൃ. (&തൃത്വാ അരി a. med.) Kinds: കരിന്തൃ. (=കൃഷ്ണതുളസി), കാട്ടു — GP. Ocymum gratissimum, തുളസി തൃ. Oo. basilicum. തൃത്താക്കുരുവപ്പന്‍ No. (ഗുരു) = മാദേവര്‍. A small obelisk (Phallos?) of ചേടിമണ്‍, placed on the ചൂത്തറ of each house (10 days for Ōṇam & 2 for Maγam) in commemoration, it is said, of the great prosperity under king Mahābali.

tuḷa T. M. C. (Te. തൊലി, Tu. തൊളു) A hole, bored hole. നന്നേ തുള ഉണ്ടാം a. med. (through cancer). തുളക്കാതന്‍, f. — തി a person with widely bored ears. തുളമാനം the size of a hole. തുളയന്‍ B. a fool. തുളവാരം the holes & faults of a thing or person, തുളാരം പറഞ്ഞു vu. v. n. തുളയുക To be perforated, തുളഞ്ഞു പു റപ്പെടും Bhg. — അര്‍ബ്ബുദം കവിളുടെ നടുവേ തു ളഞ്ഞു തുളഞ്ഞുണ്ടാം a. med. v. a. തുളെക്ക to perforate, pierce, bore മൂക്കു തുളെച്ച കാള an ox with a pierced nose. മൂക്കു തുളെക്കും VyM. pokes his nose, (sign of perplexity). tavvu, & തബ്ബു (= തകുവു, തക്കം; C. ത വെ side; again) = തവണ. In M. a fixed time, term 1. No. in തവ്വുതോറും (doc.) i. e. ഓണം & വിഷു, the time for paying the കുടിപണം to the Janmi. 2. (മിഥുനം to കന്നി excepted) the time for paying the monthly installments of Govt. taxes, കുത്തുക etc.; ഇത്ര തവ്വായി തന്നുകൊ ള്ളാം So. = ഗഡു. 3. (Cal. to Palg.) f. i. ക്യഷി ക്കു, തൈ വെക്കാന്‍ നല്ല തവ്വു (vu. തൌ) the proper time for; so പോകുവാന്‍ തവ്വുണ്ടു V1. = തരം, also തവ്വുണ്ടെങ്കിലേ എടുക്കാവു Palg. unnoticed; തവ്വടക്കിപറക B. to speak to the purpose, to silence. 4. right, good തവ്വിതെ ന്നോ൪ത്തു VilvP.
