(Te. തെന്നു way) South, whence തെക്കു, തെങ്ങര etc. തെന്തിരയാഴി പുക്കു RC. the Southern sea. തെന്നല്‍, (T. തെന്‍റല്‍) the Southern breeze, zephyr തെ. വീതുതുടങ്ങി CG., also called താ ര്‍ത്തെന്നല്‍, ചന്ദനത്തെന്നല്‍ as coming from the Southern Ghats. — met. നല്ലൊരു തെന്ന ലെ മുങ്ങിന വാക്കു CG. zephyr-dipped. തെന്നിക്കാററു, (T. തെന്‍റി) 1. South wind V1. 2. veering of the wind, fr. foll. taδam S. (തന്‍) Stretched, wide തരച്ചൊ ല്ലാള്‍ RC. a fine speaker, or far famed. കുങ്കുമച്ചാ റണിന്ത തതച്ചൊല്ലേ RC. Sīta! തതി S. a line, row, mass, തുരഗതതി Mud.; ശ രതതി തറെച്ചു KR.; വളര്‍ന്നുള്ള ശ്വാസതതി കള്‍ KR. of one dying.

tuḷi T. M. (തുളു Tu. C. to tremble) A drop, also തുള്ളി q. v., ചോരത്തുളി Bhg. — (No. toddy drawers say of a cut cocoanut-spadix: തു. എ ടുക്ക toddy begins to flow, തു. തെളിഞ്ഞു flows freely, തു. ആറി has dried up). തുളിക്ക 1. to drop, as medicines ചെവിയില്‍ Tantr. എണ്ണ വെന്തു പുണ്ണില്‍ തു. taḍassụ = തട, തടച്ചല്‍. Obstruction, hindrance ഓരോരോ തടസ്സും പറഞ്ഞു TR. — also തടസ്സം f. i. നികിതി ത. കൂടാതേ എടുക്ക, ത. കാട്ടുന്നവരോടു ബലത്താലേ തടുത്തു നികിതി വാങ്ങുക വേണ്ടിവരും TR. the renitent. തടസ്ഥം (mod.) id. പണം കൊടുക്കുന്നതിന്നുള്ള തടസ്ഥങ്ങള്‍ TR. difficulties, opposition. അതിന്നു ഏതാനും ത. പറഞ്ഞു MR. objected to it. തടസ്ഥനിവാരണത്തിന്നു MR. to remove the hindrances. ത'ങ്ങള്‍ നേരിടും etc.

taraγụ l. (T. തരവു, fr. തരുക?) Order. ൨ കൈട്ടി കൂട്ടി ത. വാങ്ങി TP. common letter or document ofa Rāja. തരകു വന്നവര്‍ ചെല്ലാ ഞ്ഞാല്‍ TR. summons. നിലത്തിന്നു കോവിലക ത്തുനിന്നു കിട്ടിയ തരകു MR. lease. അരുളിച്ചെ യ്കയാല്‍ എഴുതിയ തരകു (doc. of കുഴിക്കാണം). 2. (Te. C. തറഗു wastage, fr. തര്‍ = തഴ്) percentage, brokerage, customary deduction, paid mediation. ത. പറക to speak in one's defence or recommendation. ത. യാപന tax on shopkeepers levied by Rājas. ത. വാണിഭം agency, commission, as practised by യാവാരി KU. ഓ ണത്തരകിന്നു പോക TP. തരകന്‍ a broker; title of merchants; a caste of Sūdras, warehouse-keepers at Palghat (hon. തരകനാര്‍ & — വ —); weavers at Chettuwa. — കോയഹസ്സന്‍ തരകനാര്‍ Ti. a Māpḷa merchant who invited Hyder Ali to Malabar. കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്ന തരവന്മാര്‍ വ യനാട്ടില്‍ കുടിവാങ്ങി TR.

tānam 1. S. (തന്‍, G. tonos) A keynote. താ. പാടുക = വഴിപ്പാട്ടുപാടുക & താച്ചു പാടുക. 2. Tdbh. ദാനം f. i. താ. കഴിക്ക to do penance. 3. Tdbh.; സ്ഥാനം rank, position, താ. കളക to lose credit, താ. പറക to speak with a feeling of one's importance, താ. വരുത്തുക to take revenge, താനമാനം അറിക to be wellbred V1. 2. താനക്കിഴി an offering in a small bag, presented at a temple (സ്ഥാനം).

tārkiγaǹ S. (തര്‍ക്കം) 1. A sophist, disputant, വേദാന്തതാ'ന്മാരുടെ വാദം Nal. 2. (mod.) litigious, താ'ന്മാരായ അവകാശികള്‍ MR.

tāraδamyam S. (തര + തമ) The more or less ഏററക്കുറവു; nice distinction of degrees. അതിഥികളുടെ താ'ങ്ങള്‍ അറിക, അ തിലേ താ. അറിവതിന്നു KR. gradation.
