CG. God); husband. Kēraḷa is said to hold 1000 നായ കന്മാര്‍ & 1400 വീരന്മാര്‍ KU. high noblemen, generals, etc. നായകി a mistress, lady VetC., better നായിക, as നാരിമാര്‍ നായികേ, വിണ്ണവര്‍ നാ. CG. Durga; pl. hon. നായികിയാര്‍ a princess. നായക്കന്‍, (II. nāyak). 1. a corporal. ബോയി നാ. TR. the headman of hamāls. 2. നായക്ക ന്മാര്‍, — യിക്കന്മാര്‍ N. pr. a certain caste of Easterners (of Telugu origin?), chiefly tank-diggers; when they marry, the bridegroom is said to eat a cat with the bride. D. — നായിക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കു വാദ്യപ്രയോഗം KN. — Kinds: കൊങ്ങനായ്ക്കന്‍ (or ഒട്ടനായ്ക്കന്‍, f. ഒട്ടത്തി), നാട്ടുനായ്ക്കന്‍ (with മുങ്കടുമ), വടു കനായ്ക്കന്‍ (cultivators, etc.)

našṭam S. (part. of നശ്) 1. Lost, destroyed നഷ്ടമായകുമാരന്‍ KumK. (&നഷ്ടന്‍). നാലഞ്ചു പുത്രന്മാര്‍ ന'മായി SG.; രാജ്യവും പ്ര ജകളും നഷ്ടമായീടും Nal. you will lose the land. വിഷാദവും ചിന്തയും ന'മായി KR. left him. ദുഷ്ടരെ ന'മാക്കി Anj. destroyed. കുലം നഷ്ടമായ്ചമെക്ക Bhr. 2. loss, waste, damage കാര്യനാശവും കൃഷിനഷ്ടവും TrP.; ഞാറു, വിള, വാഴ ന. വരുത്തി MR. destroyed. നഷ്ടം വക MR. the amount of damage. ന. പറക V2. to recover what is lost by conjuring; (ന. വെക്കുക by calculation). നഷ്ടം തിരിക to roam about, be at a loss, (vu. also നട്ടംതിരിച്ചല്‍). 3. entire നഷ്ടഭ്രാന്തു പിടിച്ചു vu. = പൂര്‍ണ്ണം. Hence: നഷ്ടക്കാരന്‍ 1. a squanderer. 2. a soothsayer, fortune-teller; (also നഷ്ടം പറയുന്ന ആള്‍). നഷ്ടചേഷ്ടത V1. swoon; (അവന്‍ നഷ്ടചേഷ്ടന്‍). നഷ്ടത destruction. ന. ചേര്‍ക്ക Bhr. to destroy. നഷ്ടത്തിറ, (നട്ടത്തിറ) sport on the eve before the തിറ q. v. നഷ്ടദാരിദ്യ്രം (3) deep poverty. നഷ്ടന്‍ (1) ruined, ഞാന്‍ നഷ്ടനായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു lost; (2) = നഷ്ടക്കാരന്‍. നഷ്ടപ്രശ്നം, (നട്ടപ്രത്യാ TP.) consulting an astrologer about what is lost. ന. വെപ്പിക്ക. നഷ്ടംതിരിച്ചല്‍ (2) roaming; perplexity കുഴ പ്പത്തിലും ന'ലിലും ആയി. നഷ്ടപ്പെടുക to be ruined, as plants not attended to ഉഭയം ന'ട്ടുപോയി MR. നഷ്ടപ്പെടുക്ക, — ത്തുക = നഷ്ടമാക്ക (1). നഷ്ടശത്രു Brhmd. freed from enemies. നഷ്ടാമുഷ്ടി, (see നട്ടാമുട്ടി; So. a guess) No. missing property; ന. വിചിന്തനം recovering such through a sooth-sayer. നഷ്ടി T. M. loss (=നഷ്ടം, നാശം), ന. ഉണ്ടതു കൊണ്ടു VCh. നസ്ക്യേത്തിരം Mapl. = നക്ഷത്രം.

nāsti S. (ന + അസ്തി) 1. Is not നിദ്ര യോ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നാ. പണ്ടേ തന്നേ Nal.; ആസ്തി യോ നാസ്തിയോ hast or hast not? vu. 2. nonexistence വൈരം നാ. യായി Nal.; ദുര്‍ബ്ബോധം നാ. യായ്വന്നു Si Pu.; പാപം നാ. യാം, നാ. യാ യ്ചമഞ്ഞു Bhg.; നീര്‍ ചോര്‍ന്നു നാ. യായ്വരും PT. will be destroyed. നാസ്തം 'a place where of old all went naked' V1., (see നസ്തമേ).

navānnam S. Eating new rice= പുത്തരി, also നവാശനം. നവാലി Port, navalha, A clasp-knife, razor. നവാവു Ar. navāb, Governor; Haidar Ali ൪൧ആം ആണ്ടു നവാവ് (— ബ് 531) വന്നപ്പോള്‍ TR.
