nuṇa (aC. നൊണ to devour, aT. നൊ ണ്ടു). 1. Smack, slaver; greediness, നുണ പൊ ട്ടുക the mouth to water, to smack. 2. calumny, flattery, lie (C. നൂളു). നുണയും നൊട്ടയും lies. നുണ പറക to backbite. നുണയന്‍ m., (f. നുണച്ചി) 1. voracious. 2. a talebearer, spy, calumniator. നുണയുക So. to eat greedily. VN. നുണച്ചല്‍ smacking the lips, greediness. നുണത്തം, നുണത്തരം So. backbiting. നുണെക്ക 1. To smack the lips, have a ravenous appetite കാത്തിട്ടിരുന്നോന്‍ നുണെ ച്ചിട്ടു ചത്തു, നരി നുണെക്കുന്പോലേ prov.; നു ണെക്കാതേ ഇറക്കിക്കൂടാ without slavering. 2. to backbite.

nīnduγa T. M. (Tu. ന്യാന്തു, C. ൦രം പു). To swim, sprawl on the ground or in the water. നീന്തിക്കടക്ക, കരേറുക to swim to the shore; — with Acc. പത്തുപുരുഷന്മാ൪ ഓരാറു നീന്തി KeiN. — met. ഭവവാരിധിവന്തിരകളാ യ വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ നീന്തി വലയുന്നു ChVr. toil in the world's service. C. നെഗ, നിഗ, Tu. നുഗി, T. നിവ) 1.To rise as in water ചെന്ന തില്‍ മുങ്ങി നികന്നു, a water-snake വാരിതന്മീ തേ നികന്നു നോക്കി, bathers വെള്ളത്തിങ്കീ ഴേ പോയി ദൂരത്തു ചെന്നു നികന്നു CG.; ചന്ദ്ര നെപ്പോലേ ഭൂമി ആകാശത്തില്‍ നികന്നു നി ല്ക്കുന്നു to be aloft. 2. to fill up, as a hole; to heal up as a wound വ്രണം നികന്നീടും PT. (vu. നേണു വരിക). VN. നികപ്പു 1. rising out of water. 2. filling up, levelling; sustenance ദിവസം കഴിപ്പാന്‍ നി. ഇല്ല. vu. v. a. നികത്തുക 1. to fill up, കുഴി നി. V1. 2. to level, നി'ന്നു ഭൂമി ചിലര്‍ KR. making a road. 3. to mend, perfect ഭക്തിയുള്ള ഭൃത്യന്‍ സ്വാ മിയെ നികത്തീടും PT.; കുറവുകളെ നികത്തി ത്തരുന്നു makes up all wants. സത്തുക്കള്‍ക്ക് ആപത്തു വന്നാല്‍ നി. nēδāvụ S. (നീ) A leader = നായകന്‍. നേത്രം S. the eye = നയനം, as നേത്രഗോച രം Bhg. within reach of the eye. നേത്രന്‍ = കണ്ണന്‍ having eyes, f. i. അര്‍ണ്ണോജ—, അംബുജ —, ഉല്പല —, പുഷ്കര —, etc. AR.
