Aim; hence: a sign, omen ആപല്‍ സൂചക മായ ദിവ്യമാം നി'ങ്ങള്‍ KR.; ചൂഴവും അറുതി ചൊല്ലും നി'ങ്ങള്‍ RC.; നി. നോക്കുക, പാര്‍ക്ക to observe omens. നി. പറയുന്നവന്‍ a soothsayer. 2. inducement. നിന്‍ കഷ്ടതെക്ക് അവന്‍ നി. CG. he is the cause of thy misery. 3. adv. by reason of. അവന്‍ നി. because of him, for his sake. നീ നിമിത്തം തല്ലുകൊണ്ടീടിനേന്‍ VetC.; ദംശിക്ക നി'മായി Mud. എന്നുടെ സര്‍വ്വ നാശം നിമിത്തമല്ലീ KR. in order to destroy me. ആ നിലം നി'മായി ഒരുത്തരോട് ഒരു കാ ര്യം പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഇല്ല TR. about; also Instr. മ ത്സരനിമിത്തത്താല്‍ MR. by reason of enmity. നിമിത്തജ്ഞന്‍, നിമിത്തവില്‍ an astrologer. നിമിത്ത്യം V1. cause.
