nārāǰam S. (prob. fr. നാര്‍, നാരാ യം). An arrow, vu. = കൊക്കന്പു; നാ'ങ്ങള്‍ എയ്തു Brhmd.; തീ എരിയും നാ. ചെവിയില്‍ കൊ ണ്ടന്നു തിരുകീയ പോലേ പറഞ്ഞു കേട്ടു KR.; അവനെ നാരാചബാണങ്ങള്‍ എയ്തു KR. നാരാ ചസമ്മുഖന്‍ VetC. who meets an arrow. നാരായം (Tdbh.? rather നാര്‍ + ആയം) 1. a hairlike pin; the sting of a bee. — V1. a heavy double pointed iron style (M. also called നാരാചം, for writing Granthams). ൧൦ വിരല്‍ നീളമുള്ള ഇരിന്പു നാരായം പഴുപ്പിച്ചു വായില്‍ ഇടേണം VyM. narambụ T. Tu. M. & ഞ — q. v. (C. നര, Te. നരമു). A sinew, nerve, pulse പിടെ ച്ചു നെററിമേല്‍ ന. കള്‍ എല്ലാം KR., അവിടേ മുറിഞ്ഞാല്‍ ന. വലിക്കില്‍ അപ്പോഴേ മരിക്കും MM., കണ്ണില്‍ പൂവും നരന്പും ഇളെക്കും a. med. spasm in the eye? ന. എടുക്കയും ഉഷ്ണം പെരു താകയും MM.; കൈ ന. എടുത്തില്ല (in drawing the bow).

nappu No. (=നര്‍റപു. നന്നം). Scent; tracing a theft, etc.

nairāšyam S. (നിരാശ). 1. Despair; V1. obstinacy പിടിക്ക, ഭാവിക്ക So. 2. abstaining from hope or desire നൈ. എ ന്നതു നല്ല സുഖം Bhg. നൈരാശ്യക്കാരന്‍ vu. a head-strong person.

ner̀uγa (T. നെറി temples; what is straight). The crown of the head (in Tu. നെ ത്തി). നെറുകയില്‍ പീലികെട്ടി Bhr., also നെ റുകന്തല. നെറുവിളക്കു (& കാക്കവി.) a lamp nailed on the head of exposed infants or hanged criminals. നെ. തറെക്ക; നീകാലത്തു നെ. കണ്ടുപോകും (curse).

nayanam S. (leading). Eye അവന്‍ ന. എന്നും ഇളകാ RC. (of a corpse). നയന ജലം വാര്‍ത്തു Mud. wept. നയനത്തീ Bhr. of Siva. നയനഭാഷകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു (jud.) a dumb explains by gestures. നക്ഷത്രത്തിന്മേല്‍ ന' ങ്ങള്‍ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു നടക്ക. നയനഗോചരം apparent, clear (to the eye). നയനാമൃതം, നയനഹരം a delightful sight.

nānd/?/aγam S. (&നന്ദകം). The sword of Višṇu or Kā/?/i നാ. കൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി Sk.; നാ. പോലേ വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കും (bent at the point); നാ. എഴുന്നെള്ളിക്ക (at Māḍāyi).

nīǰam S. (ന്യഞ്ച്). Low, also of sound സ്വരം അത്യുച്ചമില്ലതിനീചവും KR.; നീചരില്‍ ചെയ്ത ഉപകാരം prov. benefits to mean persons. നീചഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ = രാഹു, കേതു (astr.) നീചജാതി low-caste = താണ — 449. നീചത്വം mean condition (നീ. മമ ജാതിക്കുണ്ടു Mud.) നീചവൃത്തിക്കാരന്‍ of mean habits. നീചൈഃ low, adv. നീചൈസ്തരാം with a low voice. Bhg.

nāsi (Tdbh.; നാസിക). The nose, വി യര്‍പ്പുതുള്ളികള്‍ പൊടിഞ്ഞ നാ. യും Bhr., അ ന്നാസി കണ്ടാല്‍ CG. — നാസിദ്വാരം etc. നാസിക S. 1. a nostril നാ. കരം കൊണ്ടുപിടി ച്ചു SiPu. (in Yōga). 2. the nose നാസികത്തെ ല്ലു Anj. — നാസികാചൂര്‍ണ്ണം a med. Snuff. നാസിക്യം N. pr. the town Nāsik. നാസിര്‍ = നാജര്‍.
