nāġam S. 1. A snake, esp. the Cobra (fr. നഗ്നം?). മണി നാ'ങ്ങള്‍ കരിനാ'ങ്ങളും പു നഃ PR. (the latter a very large hooded snake). 2. myth, serpents with human faces, that once ruled in Kēraḷa KU. 3. an elephant (po.). നാഗകേശരം = നാഗപ്പൂ (or Pentapetes phœnicia Rh.). നാഗച്ചെന്പു B. pinchbeck. നാഗണത്തി V1. a bird. (നാകണച്ചയനന്‍ RC. fr. നാകു, അണ, ശയനന്‍ = നാഗശായി). നാഗത്താളിV1. Trichosanthes anguina, (also = കുലച്ചില്‍). B. = Cactus. നാഗത്താന്‍ (hon.) a serpent as worshipped in Kéraḷa. നാ'ന്മാര്‍കോട്ട, vu. നാര്‍ത്താന്‍ കോട്ടം tree & fane inhabited by a consecrated serpent. നാഗദന്തി GP 64.
