parōkšam S. (പരഃ, അക്ഷ). Lying beyond our sight or perception, opp. പ്രത്യക്ഷം, as പരോക്ഷജ്ഞാനം Bhg.; പൂ൪വ്വകാണ്ഡങ്ങള്‍ ഭിന്നമായി പ'മായി ദു൪ബ്ബലമായി Bhg. are abrogated as torn & thrown aside, (because അപ രോക്ഷജ്ഞാനം (36) വന്നു). പരോപകാരം S. (പര). Benefitting others, Nal. പരോപകാരവ്രതം a vow; പ'രൈകനിരതന്‍ Brhmd. പരോപകാരി benevolent, hospitable. പരോല്പത്തി S. another man's property V1. പരോ & പരവു Tdbh.; പ്രഭു, as N. pr. of caste & otherwise പരോസ്ഥാനം നടത്തുക KU.

aT. M. (fr. prec.? or = പരക്ക). Gross, big പരുമുള്‍പടര്‍ന്തടലില്‍ വീഴ്ന്തു RC; പരുക ടി V1. = പെരുകടി. പരുക്ക T. M. to grow bulky, stout, പാല്‍ പ രുത്തുപോയി curdled = ഉണ്ണിതിരിക. പരുത്തപുടവവ coarse female garment = പ രുന്പുടവ (opp. നേരിയതു); പരുത്തശൈ ലങ്ങള്‍ Bhr. പരുക്കു = പരിക്കു, q. v. 1. prh. rough surface. adj. പരുക്കന്‍മുണ്ടു No.; പരുക്കന്‍തുണികള് നെയ്ക Arb. 2. Palg. a tree; പരുക്കന്പാല്‍ its juice. പരുപര roughly, harshly. പ. വലിച്ചു pulled rudely. പ. കുത്തുന്ന രോമങ്ങള്‍ Bhr. piγayuγa (T. പികു, C. Tu. Te. bigu, tension, C. Te. pigulu, to burst from tension). To wrestle തമ്മലില്‍ പൊഞ്ഞോണ്ടു TP. — to turn, twirl തമ്മില്‍ തര്‍ക്കിച്ചു പികഞ്ഞു. VN. പികെച്ചല്‍ twirling. പിക്കുക, ച്ചു V1. (C. to pluck. Tu. pinǰu) to break in pieces.

parandụ No. (=പരുന്തു). A kite, Accipiter nisus, പണത്തിന്നു മീതേ പ. പറക്കയി ല്ല prov. (പരം): പരപക്ഷം S. the other party. പക്ഷം പ. വിചാരിച്ചു TR. biassed in favor of either party. പരപീഡ S. oppressing others. പരപുഷ്ടം = പരഭൃതം.

peruγụ So. (പെരകു Palg.) = പിരകു Clerodendron, the leaf also പെരുവില.

pōkkaṇam T. So. Humility. പോ. കെട്ടവന്‍ shameless, foolish ചില പോ ക്കണം കെട്ടവരുടെ നാനാവിധങ്ങള്‍ TR. excesses committed by some rascals (rebels). പോ. കേടു dishonor, shamelessness, folly (so Vl. under പൊക്കണം. Is it derived from കണം = അസഭ്യം?); No. also = തകറാര്‍, കലശല്‍ crime നീ ഒരു കയി വല്ലതും ഒരു പോ. ഉണ്ടാക്കി വന്നു എങ്കിലേ നിന്നെ വി ശ്വസിക്കും TR. first commit yourself by some daring act. പോക്കാച്ചി, പോക്കാന്‍, see under പോക്കു.

poδi T. M. C. (Tu. pude, see പുത). 1. A bundle, as of victuals; whatever envelopes കല ത്തിന്നു വായ്പൊതി കെട്ടുക a. med. 2. a full bag or bullock-load. പൊതി പിടിക്ക to be carried on beasts of burthen. ഇരുനൂറു പൊതി പുക യിലയും കച്ചയും TR. 3. a measure = 20 Iḍanga/?/i CS. ഒരു പൊതി അരി = മൂട (vu.). പൊതി നെല്ലു = 25 Iḍ. V1. (50 No.) ഒരു പൊതി ക്കു മുപ്പതു വിത്തു (Cavāi) others = 33½ Iḍang. അരിപ്പൊതി Arb.; also a number: 1 പൊതിച്ച ക്കര Cann. 100, Telly. 50, Cal. 10 pieces. പൊതിക്കാരന്‍ an owner of pack-bullocks. പൊതിക്കാള an ox of burthen. പൊതിക്കെട്ടു a bundle tied up ചോറു പൊ'ട്ടാ യി കെട്ടുന്നു TP. പൊതിച്ചോറു rice or victuals tied up for a journey ഒരു മുണ്ടില്‍ തൈര്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു പൊ. കെട്ടി Arb. പൊതിനാവു mint, Arb. Palg. (see പോതിക). പൊതിപ്പത്തു or പോററിപ്പത്തു a tenth of the seed-corn formerly paid to temples, but merged in the general assessment.
