So. a trap. പത്തായക്കാരന്‍ No. sc. who possesses grain, കടം വാങ്ങിയാല്‍ പ'നോടു വാങ്ങേണം prov. പത്തായപ്പുര 1. a granary, also പത്തായക്കെട്ടു. 2. an upper story കുടിയില്‍ സ്ഥലമില്ലായ്ക കൊണ്ടു ഒരു പ. മാളിക കയററി MR. (Palg. = ഇരുനിലപ്പുര); also a wing = തെക്കിനി. പത്തായോദരഭുക്തി VyM. the loan of a patta- yam. I.

pōḍuγa (T. to throw, strike, Te. C. pōṭu a stab, C. poḍe to strike). 1. To strike, as a wedge into timber ആണികള്‍ പോടി പ്പോടി PT. 2. to put കൈകൊച്ചായുളളവന്‍ കങ്കണം പോടുന്പോലേ PT 1.; നാന്‍ ചൊന്ന തെല്ലാം ഒത്തുവരാ എങ്കില്‍ നാവറുത്ത പോടു വന്‍ Coratti.P. (= ഇടുക, കളക). പോട്ടുക in കുറിപോട്ടുക to put a mark on the forehead (= ഇടുക). അതു ഭദ്രം പോട്ടി it was frustrated. പോട്ട a rush-grass, bulrush. So., പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലു (used for mats).

paδiǹ T. M. (obl. case of പത്തു). പ തിനഞ്ചു 15. — പതിനായിരം 10000, പ'ത്താ ണ്ടു KR. പ. also the 10000 Nāyars of Pōla Nāḍu KU., the aristocracy of Kaḍattuva-nāḍu പ. ലോകര്‍ TP.— പതിനാലും അഷ്ടമിയും UmV. the 14th lunar day. — പതിനാറു 16; the funeral ceremony on the 16th day after a death. — പതിനായിരത്തെട്ടു ഭാര്യമാര്‍ Bhg. — പതിനെ ട്ടര്‍ KU. 18 persons & പതിനെണ്മര്‍; so പതി നെണ്ണായിരം 18000, Bhg. പതിന്നാങ്കു 14 & = ചതുര്‍ദ്ദശി V1. astrol. പതിന്നാഴിത്തേന്‍ ഉണ്ടോരോ മരത്തിന്മേല്‍ KR. 10 measures, so പതിന്പറ 10 large measures. പതിന്മടങ്ങു 10 fold AR. പതിന്മൂന്നിനെ വേട്ടാന്‍ Bhr 3. thirteen. പതിററു in multiplication, as പതിററു രണ്ടു = 20, പതിററുപ്പത്ത് = 100; (so ഒന്പതിററു ഒന്നു etc. = 9 etc.). പതിററടി സമയം when a man's shadow measures 10 feet, between 4 — 5 P. M. — പതിററടിപ്പൂ see പന്തീരടി — so മുപ്പതിററാള്‍ക്ക് prov. depth of 30 men. പതിപ്പിക്ക 1. see under പതി II. 2. see under പതിതം.

piḍāraǹ T. M. (see പിഷാരന്‍). A snake-catcher V1.; a caste making painted shields, boxes, etc. No. = തോല്ക്കൊല്ലന്‍; a class of lower Brahman s, who drink liquor & worship Sacti (or a Kāḷi, called പിടാരി V1.) KU. കാ വില്‍ ഇട്ടമ്മല്‍ ഇല്ലത്ത് ഏളേ പിടാരര്‍ TR. (with കഷായവസ്ത്രം, നിത്യ സന്യാസത്വം Cal.)

pratha S. (പൃഥ് to spread; broad). Fame. പ്രഥനം unfolding പ്രഥനചതുരത Bhr. (in war). part. pass. പ്രഥിതം spread, renowned.

puḍa 1. aM. T. A. side (= ദിക്കു, പുടം). — പു വിലോകവും കകനവും പുടമുഴങ്ങ RC. പുടപുഴ ങ്ങുമാറു Bhr 8. to resound, echo. 2. = പുടവ q. v. നല്ലൊരിണപ്പുട കെട്ടി ഉടുപ്പിച്ചു Bhg. പുടപുഴക്കം B. echo. (see 1).
