The malady is cured by an offering in the chamber of the ancestors പേനെക്കു കൊടുക്ക. 2. a miser of the worst description.

poδi T. M. C. (Tu. pude, see പുത). 1. (50 No.) ഒരു പൊതി ക്കു മുപ്പതു വിത്തു (Cavāi) others = 33½ Iḍang. അരിപ്പൊതി Arb.; also a number: 1 പൊതിച്ച ക്കര Cann. 100, Telly. 50, Cal. 10 pieces. പൊതിക്കാരന്‍ an owner of pack-bullocks. പൊതിക്കാള an ox of burthen. പൊതിക്കെട്ടു a bundle tied up ചോറു പൊ'ട്ടാ യി കെട്ടുന്നു TP. പൊതിച്ചോറു rice or victuals tied up for a journey ഒരു മുണ്ടില്‍ തൈര്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു പൊ. കെട്ടി Arb. പൊതിനാവു mint, Arb. Palg. (see പോതിക). പൊതിപ്പത്തു or പോററിപ്പത്തു a tenth of the seed-corn formerly paid to temples, but merged in the general assessment. W. പൊതിപ്പാടു a measure of rice-land requiring a Poδi of seed to sow it. എനിക്കു സ്വന്ത മായി ൬ പൊ. കണ്ടം ൧൨ പൊ. പണയം വക കണ്ടങ്ങള്‍ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു (Becal). പൊതിമാടു Palg. = പൊതിക്കാള.

pāndal So. (T. പാന്തുക to creep, sneak, hide). A miry place. പാ'ച്ചേറു a bog B.

pū/?/āǹ (T. a partridge) B. A kind of eel (പൂഴുക).

pāǹi = പാന 1. A waterpot; (Palg. തോ ണ്ടിപ്പാനി); esp. കപ്പാനി (Palg. മുട്ടിപ്പാനി) the pot in which palmwine (കള്‍) is gathered, പാ. വടിച്ചകളളു 2. palmyra-wine prepared with chunam. B. പാനിക്കൊട്ട (1) No. a cover of cocoanut-leaves placed over toddy-pots on palm-trees (to keep off crows).

pīr̀u So. = പീത്ത (T. to tear). പീററ an old, sickly cocoanut tree, yielding little fruit, So. പാററ. q. v.
