pūṇuγa T. M. C. (Te. pūḍu, see പു ണര്‍). 1. v. n. To be closed ചങ്ങല പൂണ്ടുള്ള വാതില്‍ CG.; to be yoked, put to തേരില്‍ പൂ ണ്ട അശ്വം Nal. 2. v. a. to embrace മാറോ ടു ചേര്‍ത്തു പൂണ്ടു CG. കണ്ണുകള്‍ ചിമ്മിപ്പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Bhr. പൂമൈ പൂണുക Si Pu. അവളെ പൂ. (= പു ണര്‍ന്നു). 3. to put on as cloth, ornaments അംബരം പൂണാത പൈതല്‍ CG. യോഗിവേ ഷം പൂണ്ടാന്‍ Mud. ദിവ്യരൂപവും പൂണ്ടേന്‍ VilvP. assumed. 4. to have കന്പത്തെ പൂണു ന്നോരേണം CG. the trembling deer. പരമാന ന്ദം പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Nal. was full of joy, ഭക്തി പൂ. payyavaǹ (പയി 1.) The hungry; Agni. പ'നോടു നേരാം മാമുനിമാര്‍ Bhr. — B. says: Brahma, (T. പൈയന്‍ = പൈതല്‍). പയ്യോര്‍മല & mod. പയ്യര്‍മല N. pr. piḷukkuγa (T. പിള്ളുക = വിള്ളുക to split). To open (the lips) കോമഴച്ചുണ്ടു പി ളുക്കി നിന്നീടുന്ന ഓമനപ്പൈതല്‍ CG. an infant longing for the breast (or press? പിതുക്കുക).

1. To augment. മരം പെ. a ceremony on Utrāḍam, with pāṇar beating the Mad'daḷam, to secure a rich crop. നെല്‍ പെ. a similar act, presenting the first sheaf to Laxmi and abstaining from giving alms. പെ'വാന്‍ പണ്ണാരം പുക്കു TP. 2. to multiply (=ഏററുക) സംഖ്യയെ നാലില്‍ പെരുക്കി TrP. ഇവറെറ പത്തില്‍ പെരുക്കി Gan. തള്ളകളെ ത ങ്ങളില്‍ പെ. CS. (also with ങ്ങാല്‍, കൊണ്ടു). 3. T. to sweep. പെരുങ്ങുക = പെരുകുക to be prolific ഒരു ക ടച്ചി പെററു പെരുങ്ങി ഓരാല നിറഞ്ഞു (loc.) പെരുങ്ങിണി N. pr. m. & f. of Cherumārs So. II.

pāmam S. Itch. (Te. pāmu, prāmu to rub).

polluγa T. So. (C Tu. poli) To sew, mend mats or baskets. CV. പൊല്ലിക്കo B. to have them mended. പൊളവന്‍ Trav., see പുളവന്‍.

pōkkaṇam T. So. Humility. പോ. കെട്ടവന്‍ shameless, foolish ചില പോ ക്കണം കെട്ടവരുടെ നാനാവിധങ്ങള്‍ TR. excesses committed by some rascals (rebels). പോ. കേടു dishonor, shamelessness, folly (so Vl. under പൊക്കണം. Is it derived from കണം = അസഭ്യം?); No. also = തകറാര്‍, കലശല്‍ crime നീ ഒരു കയി വല്ലതും ഒരു പോ. ഉണ്ടാക്കി വന്നു എങ്കിലേ നിന്നെ വി ശ്വസിക്കും TR. first commit yourself by some daring act. പോക്കാച്ചി, പോക്കാന്‍, see under പോക്കു.

pilpāḍu (T. pir̀pāḍu, പിന്‍). 1. The backside. പി.വാങ്ങാതേവെട്ടിത്തടുക്കയും Mud. backwards. 2. afterwards. പി. വന്നു Bhg. the latter state. പി. പിന്നേ വിചാരിക്കില്‍ Sah. പില്പെടുക = പിന്പെടുക, also പില്പെടുക്ക യുധി യോഗ്യമല്ലെടോ CC. to lag behind.
