paṭṭi 1. (T. loose condition, prostitute, fr. പടു). Miserable, പട്ടിക്കുതിരകള്‍കൊണ്ടു വന്നു കെട്ടി Nal. vicious. പട്ടിമാടു useless cattle (abuse). 2. (T. പാട്ടി) a bitch ഊര്‍പട്ടി; dog in general ആണ്പടി Vl. കുരെക്കും പ. കടിയാ prov. (hence in So. the fem. പട്ടിച്ചി). 3. T. M. C. a fold for cattle, sheep. പട്ടികെട്ടുക (on the open field). ആട്ടിന്‍പട്ടി a sheep-pen on high pillars (Palg.); place where slaves stand to receive their hire. 4. Palg. pottuγa T. M. Tu. (C. počču fr. പുത, പൊതി). 1. To cover രണ്ടു കൈകൊണ്ട് ൦രംച്ച പൊ V1. to catch. കര്‍ണ്ണങ്ങള്‍ നന്നാ യി കരംകൊണ്ടു പൊത്തി നിന്നു Mud. (a poor merchant before a minister). വായ്പൊ. to hold the hands before the mouth, reverentially = ഓച്ചാനിച്ചു നില്ക്ക (with Acc. അയ്യാളെ വായ്പൊ. MR.). കരംകൊണ്ടു കണ്‍ പൊത്തി നാര്‍ KR. പൊത്തി വെച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്ക, പൊ ത്തിപൊതിഞ്ഞു വെക്ക to conceal a matter, frame excuses. വെടി കൊണ്ടാല്‍ പൊ'ന്ന ഉ റുക്കും തണ്ടും TP. protecting. 2. to envelop, as തെങ്ങു with thorns; to embrace. 3. to strike gently so as merely to cover the surface ആ യിരം മുത്തിയാലും ഒന്നു പൊത്തിക്കൂടാ prov. പൊത്തനേ (3) gently, by itself = തനിയേ, without a hitch പൊ. ഒരുത്തയില്‍ താണു കപ്പല്‍, പൊ. അവിടേ ഇരുന്നു T. (or securely? fr. 1.). പൊ. പറഞ്ഞു, പൊ. കൊ ടുത്തുകളക No. = എല്ലാം. VN. പൊത്തല്‍ thorns & leaves tied on fruit-trees as defence (2) f. i. തെങ്ങു കെട്ടുക 479. പൊത്തിപ്പിടി (2) seizing round the shoulders and arms, as for wrestling V1., കുഞ്ഞനെ പൊ'ച്ചു TP.; രണ്ടു കൈകൊണ്ടും പൊ'ക്കും welcome most fondly. തങ്ങളില്‍ പൊ'ക്ക KR. paraġaδi S. (പരം 3.). Bliss എല്ലാ ര്‍ക്കും ഗുരു തന്നേ പരയായുള്ള ഗതി KR. പരജന്മം another birth. പരജാതന്‍ a bastard, Bhr. പരജാതി a foreign tribe, other caste. പരണി Tdbh.; ഭരണി A vase, jar. പരണി ക്കിണ്ണം an earthen plate. പരണ്‍ T. So., also പരണ a loft under the roof, rude ceiling; a frame for drying something over the fire-place.

pūraṇam S. (പൂരം). 1. Filling വില്ലി നേ പൂ. ചെയ്യും KR. will bend the bow. സ ന്താനപൂ. വരുത്തുക Sk. to obtain the desired posterity. 2. hairs of silk for the use of women. പൂരാടം Tdbh. of പൂ൪വ്വാഷാഢം The 20th asterism, bow of Sagittarius പൂ. പിറന്ന പു രുഷന്‍ prov. (= very strong, see മകം).

(2) വെള്ളം etc. പതെപ്പിക്ക = തിളപ്പിക്ക.

par̀ayuγa T. M. (T. also പന്‍, Tu. പണ്‍, C. Tu. parasu, to bless). To say, speak, tell എന്നോടു & എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞു, എന്നോട് അ കാരിയം പറക വേണ്ടാ TP. I will have nothing to do with it. നിന്നെ പറയുന്നത് എന്തിനി Sil. why then accuse thee? നമ്മെ അസഭ്യങ്ങളായിട്ട് ഓരോന്നു പറഞ്ഞു TR. at me, against me. അടങ്ങിപ്പ. to mutter V1.; കച്ചോടങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും അവിടേ പറവാന്‍ ഇല്ല

pāraγūlam S. (I. പാരം). (പരത്ര) referring to yonder world. പാ'കാര്‍ത്ഥി Bhr. looking for eternal objects. പാരദാരികന്‍ S. an adulterer. പാരദൃക്ക S. = മറുകര കണ്ടവന്‍. പാരപക്ഷ്യം S. partiality, mod. പാരമാര്‍ത്ഥികം S. real, true. പാ'മായതത്വം Bhr. full truth. അവനോടു പാ. ചൊന്നതു, also പാരമാര്‍ത്ഥ്യാത്മനാ ചോദിച്ചു Bhr. sincerely. പാരമേഷ്ഠ്യം S. the rank of പരമേഷ്ഠി Bhg. = ൦രംശിത്വം. പാരന്പര്യം S. 1. = പരന്പര succession, offspring തുര്‍വശുവിന്‍ പാ. യവനന്മാര്‍ Bhr. അവരുടെ വംശപാ'മായിട്ടു കുറവു വരികയി ല്ല TR. his descendants will never want. 2. traditional intelligence എന്നുടെ വംശ പാ. ഭവാന്മാര്‍ക്കു ചൊല്ലുവാന്‍, കുലപാ. വദി ച്ചു വന്ദികള്‍ KR. genealogy & history of a dynasty. പാരന്പര്യക്കാരന്‍ 1. one who can trace his descent. 2. acquainted with tradition.
