A lump, ball; the head of an elephant V1. 2. a rice-ball, handful of food (ഉരുള), മന്ത്രപി. a charmed morsel. 3. a rice-ball offered to the dead, esp. by Brahmans പി. വെക്ക, ഇടുക, ഊട്ടുക oblation to the manes (10th day). പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ദിനത്തില്‍ പി'വും കഴിച്ചു ശ്രാദ്ധവും KR. തി രുനെല്ലിപ്പി. മറിച്ചേക്ക TP. രാജാവിന്‍റെ പി. കഴിഞ്ഞു, എഴുന്നെള്ളിയേടത്തേ തിരുനാള്‍ പി. കഴിപ്പാന്‍ തോക്കും മരുന്നും അയച്ചു TR. (പ ള്ളിപ്പി. for Rājas). പിണ്ടത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്തു (extorted money, etc.) 'be it for his funeral' vu. പിണ്ഡക്കാരന്‍ (1) a stout man. പിണ്ഡദാനം S. (3), also പിണ്ഡപ്രദാനം VyM. പിണ്ഡവര്‍ (3) next relations, heirs നിന്നുടെ വൈരികളായിനിന്നീടുന്ന പി. CG. nephews. പിണ്ഡി S. (2) a rice-ball, പിണ്ടി. പിണ്ഡിക S. 1. a ball of flesh, the calf of a leg V1. 2. the nave of a wheel. പിണ്ഡിതം S. lumped together, പിണ്ഡീകൃതം.

punam (T. high ground). 1. A jungle, chiefly highland overrun with underwood & capable of irregular cultivation പു. കൊത്തുക, കരിപ്പിടുക TR. the process of cutting down & burning the underwood, say once in 12 years for sowing jungle-rice. പുനനെല്ലു, പുനകൃഷി, പുനം പൈമാശി TR. N. ദേവസ്വത്തിന്നു ൨ പൊതിപ്പാടു പുനം വാങ്ങി jud. 2. a cover, hole പാന്പു പുനത്തിന്നു പോന്നു TP. പുനക്കണ്ടം a hill-tract. പുനന്പു rattan (= പുരന്പു). പുനന്പന്‍ D. a head-man among Chègōns. പുനംവാരം rent of produce from jungle cultivation.

pāδam S. (പതനം), 1. Falling പാത ത്തെ പൂണ്ടൊരു വാജി CG. a fallen horse. ബാ ണ —, ഖഡ്ഗപാതം the hitting of weapons. 2. Tdbh. = പാദം. പാതയിത്വാ S. having caused to fall CC.

parašu S., (G. pelekys). An axe, mace = വെണ്മഴു Brhmd. പരശുരാമന് N. pr. Rāma, son of Jamadagni, celebrated as the creator or colonizer of Kēraḷa KM., KU.

paṇkti S. (പഞ്ച) 1. Assembly of 5 or 10. — പ. സ്യന്ദനന്‍,— കണ്ഠന്‍, — കന്ധരന്‍ etc. = ദശമുഖന്‍ KR. 2. a line, row രഥപ. കള്‍ Bhg. — പ. ഹീനന്‍ a Brahman that has lost the right of eating with his caste.

punnāram (പുന്‍ = പുതു?) or പൊ ന്നാരം Caressing, flattery. വാക്കിന്‍റെ പു. V1. the charm of his words. പുന്നാരിക്ക = ഓമനിക്ക, കൊഞ്ചുക V2. പുന്നാരക്കാരന്‍ a flatterer. പുന്നെല്‍ (= പുതുനെല്‍) or പുല്‍നെല്‍ new rice. പുന്നെലരിയും ചെറു താലിയും Palg. I/?/avars (a Tāli, present of money, 71/2 measures rice, betel & cloth taken to the bride's house). പുന്നെലവിലും വരട്ടുതേങ്ങയും (song — for Nivēdya to Gaṇapati). പുന്നെല്‍കൂഴം = കൂഴ ത്തരി of പുന്നെല്‍. — ചെറുകല്‍ പു a kind of rice (S. മാതുലാനി). പുന്മ (T = പുല്മ fr. പുല്‍ littleness) = പുതുമ in പുഞ്ചിരിപ്പുന്മ Anj. പുന്മൂട = പുല്‍മൂട.

piδuṇṇuγa T. M. (C. hodaku). 1. So. To be squeezed, pressed out. 2. No. children to make wry faces, begin to cry. പിതുക്കുക T. M. Te. C. to crush തവളയെ ചവി ട്ടി പിതുക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു No.; to press the matter out of a boil (= പിളുക്കുക).

pušpam S.1. A flower = പൂ, blossom, പു. ഇട്ടു ജപിക്ക KU. — fig. സമസ്തകര്‍മ്മകാണ്ഡവി ധികള്‍ പു. ആകുന്നു Bhg. a mere preparation for the ഫലം. 2. the menses. 3. the lungs S. പുഷ്പസം (= ചെന്പരത്തി). 4. a high number ആയിരം പു'ങ്ങള്‍ AR l. see പൂ 4. പുഷ്പകം S.
