pāǹi = പാന 1. A waterpot; (Palg. തോ ണ്ടിപ്പാനി); esp. കപ്പാനി (Palg. മുട്ടിപ്പാനി) the pot in which palmwine (കള്‍) is gathered, പാ. വടിച്ചകളളു 2. palmyra-wine prepared with chunam. B. പാനിക്കൊട്ട (1) No. a cover of cocoanut-leaves placed over toddy-pots on palm-trees (to keep off crows).

pet/?/t/?/am So. A jungle (?) T. bull (Te. peyya, Tu. petta cow), hence പെററക്കന്നു B. a wild buffalo. പെററന്‍ adj. stout, robust.
