puḷayuγa M. C. (poḷe, Te. polupu). To twirl about, wriggle തിരമാല നടുവേ പു' ന്ന ഭുജഗങ്ങള്‍ RS. പുളഞ്ഞുകളക a snake to twine itself round the body of men, beasts. VN. I. പുളച്ചല്‍ (പാന്പിന്‍റെ). CV. പുളയിക്ക to brandish, swing, switch. പുളവന്‍ a very venomous snake, in fresh water. (നീരാഴാന്ത 571.). എട്ടടിപ്പു V2. another kind; so പയ്യാനിപ്പുളവന്‍. V. iterat. പുളെക്ക 1. id. to roll oneself. കാളിന്ദി തന്നില്‍ പുളെച്ചീടുന്ന കാളിയന്‍ CC. to loiter about, enjoy one's element. 2. to revel, കാമാര്‍ത്തി പൂണ്ടു പുളെച്ചു കളിക്ക Bhr. so in the heat of battle കളിച്ചു പുളെച്ചു Bhg. രുധിരം കുടിച്ചു പുളെച്ചു Bhr. (demons). ഒ ളിച്ചു ശിശുത്വവും പുളെച്ചു മനോമദേ SiPu. തുള്ളിപ്പുളെക്ക VCh. to swagger, strut. പുളെ ച്ചുള്ള വീരര്‍ വരാഭ്യാസങ്ങളും KR. haughty warriors. (പാപം 2, 646). കളിച്ചും പുളെച്ചും വളര്‍ന്നവന്‍, — ള്‍ No. = ആണിനും തൂണിന്‍ും അടങ്ങാത്തവള്‍ prov. തിന്നു പുളെച്ചവന്‍ (a stout, self-willed, loose man). 3. v. n. to yield richly നെല്ലു, പയറു, കുന്പളങ്ങ etc. പു ളെച്ചുപോയി No.; Palg. also പോളിച്ചു No.

paraġaδi S. (പരം 3.). Bliss എല്ലാ ര്‍ക്കും ഗുരു തന്നേ പരയായുള്ള ഗതി KR. പരജന്മം another birth. പരജാതന്‍ a bastard, Bhr. പരജാതി a foreign tribe, other caste. പരണി Tdbh.; ഭരണി A vase, jar. പരണി ക്കിണ്ണം an earthen plate. പരണ്‍ T. So., also പരണ a loft under the roof, rude ceiling; a frame for drying something over the fire-place.

poḷḷa (fr. പൊളളു). 1. A tube; pipe. പൊ. വള a hollow bracelet, (opp. കട്ടിവള). പൊളളയോ കട്ടിയോ? prov. 2. the throat അവന്‍റെ പൊ. എല്ലില്‍ പിടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തു (jud. Palg.). 3. perforated, empty; a bamboo മര ങ്ങള്‍ കേടും പൊളളയും ഊനവും ഇല്ലാതേ ഇരി ക്കേണം doc. (C. puḷuku hole in trees). ചുമര്‍ പൊ. യായ്തീര്‍ന്നു (thro' white-ants). 4. blister, bubble = പോള. V2. 5. title of Pulayar chieftains, prob. from the silver-bracelet they wear; hence N. pr. of Pulayars, also പൊളള കുരു ന്തന്‍ Polōrndaǹ (see ab.). പൊളളക്കായി Cocculus Indicus = പൊളളക്കുരു V2. പൊളളച്ചീര a potherb with hollow stalks. പൊളളമുള a hollow kind of bamboo. പൊളള മുളകു blighted pepper V1. piyar aM. (= പെയര്‍, പ്യേര്‍). A name പിയര്‍കളെ കൂവി RC.

paδa 1. Boiling, throbbing; also T. 2. foam, froth, as on toddy. പത കളക V2. to skim. പതയുക So. to foam, bubble — VN. പതച്ചല്‍. പതെക്ക T. M. 1. to palpitate V1. 2. v. n. to boil up, foam പതെച്ച വെള്ളം vu.; so ഭൂമി, ഓട്ടുപുര etc., പൂഴി പതെച്ചിട്ടു കടപ്പുറത്തു നടന്നൂട emitting heat, തല നൊന്തു പ. No. 3. v. a. So. to agitate. CV. pāṇaǹ T. M. (T. പാണ്‍ = പണ്‍ melody). A caste of musicians, actors & players; in So. T. also tailors B., necromancers D. (= മുന്നൂററന്‍, മലയച്ചെക്കന്‍, പറയന്‍). പാ' ന്‍റെ നായി പോലേ prov. പാ'നോട് ഒപ്പിക്കും എന്നെ ആചാര്യനോ Bhr. — കീഴ്പാണന്‍ V1. a caste of slaves. പാണത്തി V1. പാണച്ചി, പാട്ടി fem. പാണനാര്‍ N. pr. a low-caste sage തിരുവരി യഴങ്കത്തുവാണെഴും പാ.

paḍaγụ & പടവു T. M. C. Tu. (Port. paraõ, whence 'prow'). A ship, large boat. കള്ളപ്പ. V1. a pirate vessel.

pappaḍam (C.Tu. happaḷam. S. പര്‍പ്പ ടം). A thin, crisp cake of ഉഴുന്നു; one kind is ക്ഷാരപപ്പടം GP.; ഉരുക്കുനെയ്യില്‍ ചുട്ട പ. TP. പപ്പടക്കല്ലു a millstone തിരിക്കല്ലു, taxed MR. പപ്പടക്കാരം = potass. പപ്പടച്ചെട്ടി a caste of cakemakers, Jainas (114 at Taḷiparambu).
