pa/?/ukka T. M. C. (Te. paṇḍu) 1. To grow old, ripe, പത്രം പ. Bhr.; പഴുത്ത പഴം ripe fruit, കുല പഴുക്കുന്പോള്‍ സങ്ക്രാന്തി, പഴു ക്കാന്‍ മൂത്താല്‍ പറിക്ക prov.; പ. വെക്ക to put fruits in straw (= പഴുപ്പിക്ക). 2. to become well tempered, red-hot. പ. ച്ചുടുക to roast well, എരിയുന്ന തീയില്‍ പഴുത്ത നാരാചം KR. 3. to suppurate പുണ്‍ പഴുക്കില്‍ MM. 4. to decay. പഴുത്തില a dried leaf, ദേഹം പഴു ത്തു പോയീടും KR. = പഴകി. പഴുത്തില hon. for betel, when Nāyars speak to Brahmans, Tīyars to Nāyars, etc. (see 4). VN. പഴുപ്പു 1. ripening of fruit, blighting of corn. പ. ചെന്നതു V2. overripe. 2. becoming tender, red-hot. മുഖം പ. thrush (S. മു ഖ പാകം). മനസ്സിന്‍റെ പ. V1. contrition. CV. പഴുപ്പിക്ക 1. to ripen artificially as പഴം, to heat as ഇരിന്പു, to accustom, inure. 2. മുഖം പഴുപ്പിക്ക No. actors personating women having their faces dyed with red arsenic (see മനയോല under മനം). പഴുപഴുക്ക to be discoloured; പ'പ്പു yellowness of face V1. II.

peyar T. M. (C. pesaru, Tu. pudāru). A name, aM. പിയര്‍ mod. പേര്‍ q. v.

pānthaǹ S. (പന്ഥാ). A traveler പാ'ന്മാര്‍ ആരെയും കാണ്‍കില്‍ CG.

pārāvaδam S. (പരാവല്‍ coming from afar). A turtle-dove പാ'ങ്ങള്‍ തന്‍ പെ ടകളോട് ഒത്തു നേരേ കളിച്ചു CG. (C. Te. pāruvam fr. പാറുക?)

poḷi T. M. l. (=പെളി). A streak, split, chip. ഓടു പൊളി തീര്‍ക്ക to repair a roof; what is torn, as a palm-leaf, umbrella. കെട്ടും പൊളിമുറി cancelment of a deed which is not forthcoming. So. 2. a layer, membrane of skin, rind ഒരു പൊളി തോല്‍ പിടിച്ചു കളയും to thrash well, so as to flay. പുറന്പൊളി q. v., അകന്പൊളി of bamboos for mats, മുറം, പരന്പു etc. 3. a cake. 4. a lie (=പൊയി, പൊളളു). നാരിമാരോടു പൊളി പറയും Bhr.; പൊളിയ ല്ല Bhg.; നേരോ പൊളിയോ TR.; പൊളി പറ വാന്‍ അവന്‍ (— നേ) കഴിച്ചേ വേറേ ആള്‍ ഉളളു prov. പുളിക്കു സത്യം ചെയ്ക V2. perjury; പൊളിവാക്കു excuse. പൊളിയാണ Cat R. perjury. പൊളിവെടി firing without shot.

poḷukka 1. A slice (= പൊളി) as of mango, which has 4 പൊ.;.; the 2 larger വട്ടിപ്പൊ. 2. a piece of ചെകരി. 3. splinters as from stones cut, wood-shavings. പൊളുക്കപ്പായി No. = വലിയ കണ്ണിയുളള പായി. പൊളുക്കവില്‍ No. കട്ട കെട്ടിയ അവില്‍. പൊളോര്‍ന്തന്‍N. pr. m. (= പൊളള, കുരുന്തന്‍).

paḍaruγa T. M. (പടു). To spread, as fire പടര്‍ന്നു കത്തി SiPu.; plants, odour; to creep, climb മുള്ളു പ., കാഞ്ഞിരത്തിന്മേല്‍ പട ര്‍ന്നുള്ള വള്ളി Nal.; പടര്‍ന്തവാനരക്കുലങ്ങള്‍ RC. — met. മാനസമായവല്ലി ചെന്നു പടര്‍ന്നു മേ ന്മേല്‍ CG. entwined itself more & more. വൈ രാഗ്യം അകതാരില്‍ പടര്‍ന്നവന്‍ KeiN.; സ്നേഹം മാനസേ വന്നു പൊരുന്നിപ്പടര്‍ന്നിതു Bhg.; ഉ
