piḷarirγa (C. fear, Te. pēdu, C. Te. pēlike a splinter) 1. v. n. poḷi T. M. l. (=പെളി). A streak, split, chip. ഓടു പൊളി തീര്‍ക്ക to repair a roof; what is torn, as a palm-leaf, umbrella. കെട്ടും പൊളിമുറി cancelment of a deed which is not forthcoming. So. 2. a layer, membrane of skin, rind ഒരു പൊളി തോല്‍ പിടിച്ചു കളയും to thrash well, so as to flay. പുറന്പൊളി q. v., അകന്പൊളി of bamboos for mats, മുറം, പരന്പു etc. 3. a cake. 4. a lie (=പൊയി, പൊളളു). നാരിമാരോടു പൊളി പറയും Bhr.; പൊളിയ ല്ല Bhg.; നേരോ പൊളിയോ TR.; പൊളി പറ വാന്‍ അവന്‍ (— നേ) കഴിച്ചേ വേറേ ആള്‍ ഉളളു prov. പുളിക്കു സത്യം ചെയ്ക V2. perjury; പൊളിവാക്കു excuse. പൊളിയാണ Cat R. perjury. പൊളിവെടി firing without shot.
