poṇṇaǹ = പൊട്ടന്‍, A heavy stupid man, dolt, coward Vl. (= കുടവയറന്‍ V2.). പിടിയാതെ പൊണ്ണര്‍ Bhr. പൊ'നാം ശ്വാവു, പൊണ്ണക്കുരങ്ങന്‍ PT. പൊണ്ണന്മാര്‍ എന്നു നണ്ണി KR. blockheads. പൊണ്ണുങ്ങളോടിടകൂടി രസി ക്കുന്ന പൊ'ന്മാര്‍ക്കുണ്ടോ വിശേഷജ്ഞാനം SG. വലിയപൊണ്ണ RS. പൊണ്ണത്വം 1. stupidity പൊ'മായതഖിലം Anj. a mere empty show. 2. = പൊങ്ങച്ചം f. i. പൊ. പറക to vaunt, also പൊണ്ണത്തരം. പൊണ്ണാച്ചി m. & f. = വന്‍ പൊണ്ണന്‍: പോയാല്‍ പൊറുക്കുവാന്‍ പൊ. മതി prov. പൊണ്ണി fem. of പൊണ്ണന്‍.

pāvụ & പാ T. M. (C. hāsu, Te. pēka fr. പാകുക ). 1. A weaver's warp, & what is like it, as അട്ടം പാവു ceiling of mats or palm-leaves തലപ്പാ. etc — ൫ പാ. വീതതു, പാവിന്‍റെ കഴക്കു തീര്‍ക്ക (weavers). — ഉളവും (145) പാവും headers & stretchers (Arch.). 2. inspissated toddy or sugar-juice പാ. കാച്ചുക, ചക്കരപ്പാ വു 339; from different ceremonies after birth one counts the days നാലാം പാ., ഏഴാം പാ. etc. പാവു തിന്നാള്‍ Pay. 3. all that an elephant has to learn in training him പാ. കള്‍ ഏകിനാന്‍ പാവാന്‍ നേരേ CC. ആനയെ പാ. പടിപ്പിക്കുന്പോലേ vu. 4. a China-root, used for wounds (perh. hence 2). 5. = മാര്‍ with Muckwas f. i. എത്ര പാവു പോയി = to what depth (how many fathoms) of water have you been out? 12 പാ. (പാം, പാകം see ഭാഗം) വെള്ളം. പാവാണി = പട്ടികയാണി. പാവാററുക to straighten the threads of a warp with a brush (പാവാററി, നിരപ്പന്‍)! also പാവു വീശുക (പാ. കോല്‍).

pārka T. M. 1. (fr. prec. as ലോകം and ലോചിക്ക). To regard, behold ഓര്‍ത്തവന്‍ ഓരാണ്ടു പാര്‍ത്തവന്‍ ൧൨ ആണ്ടു prov. ദിവ്യ ലോചനം കൊണ്ടു പാര്‍ത്തു Bhg. of Gods, kings. തൃക്കണ്‍ പാര്‍ത്തരുളേണമേ നീ Anj. നേരും നേ രുകേടും പാര്‍ത്തു കണ്ടു KU. investigated. പാ ര്‍ത്തോളം Bhg. = കണ്ടോളം the more you look or consider. — പാര്‍ത്താല്‍, പാര്‍ക്കില്‍ adv. well considered (an expletive, = നിരൂപിച്ചാല്‍), so പാര്‍ക്കുന്ന നേരം ഇതൊന്നേ നല്ലൂ CG. ഉണ്മയെ പാര്‍ക്കില്‍ ഏറും CG. more than reality warrants (= കാള്‍). നാടതു പാര്‍ത്താല്‍ ബഹുനായകം എ ന്നാകിലും Mud. indeed. 2. to wait for തക്കം പാ. Bhr. തക്കം നോക്കിപ്പാര്‍ത്തു കൊത്തിത്തി ന്നും PT. യുദ്ധത്തിന്നവസരം പാര്‍ത്തുപാര്‍ത്തു Mud. ഓരാതേ പാരാതേ Si Pu. inconsiderately. നി ന്നുടെ വരവു പാര്‍ത്തിരിക്കും Mud. വാവിനെപാ ര്‍ത്തുനിന്നാല്‍, ശരല്ക്കാലത്തിന്‍ വരവു പാര്‍ത്തിരി ക്കുന്നേന്‍ KR. അവനെ പാര്‍ത്തിരുന്നു Anj. ഭി ക്ഷുക്കളെ പേര്‍ത്തുപാര്‍ത്തു PT. കാലത്തെ പാര്‍ക്കാ തേ പോക വേണം CG. കാലം പാര്‍ത്തിരിക്ക to wait upon one (as king, God), to be in attendance. വഴിയെ പാ. to follow one closely everywhere. കടത്തിന്നു ആള്‍ വന്നു നമ്മുടെ വഴിയേ പാര്‍ത്തു മനസ്സു മുട്ടിച്ചു TR. dunned. 3. to stop, dwell ഒട്ടും പാര്‍ക്കാതേ TR. at once. മഴക്കാലം പാ TR. ships to winter. പാരാതേ അറിയേ ണം Bhr. without delay. എവിടേ പാര്‍ക്കുന്നു where does he live? പാര്‍പ്പവര്‍ aM. pilpāḍu (T. pir̀pāḍu, പിന്‍). 1. The backside. പി.വാങ്ങാതേവെട്ടിത്തടുക്കയും Mud. backwards. 2. afterwards. പി. വന്നു Bhg. the latter state. പി. പിന്നേ വിചാരിക്കില്‍ Sah. പില്പെടുക = പിന്പെടുക, also പില്പെടുക്ക യുധി യോഗ്യമല്ലെടോ CC. to lag behind.

piṇam T. M. (Tu. puṇa, C. heṇa, Te. pīrugu fr. പിണു stiff). A corpse, dead body

pāḷa T. Tu. M. C. 1. MR. stitched, also പാ ള കോട്ടുക No.). ഓകില്‍ ഊററുന്നത് പാളയില്‍ ഊററിതാ എന്ന പോലേ, തോട്ടന്തോറും പാള No. etc. അഛ്ശനമ്മമാര്‍ മരിക്കുന്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ ഒക്ക കൊട്ടയിലും പാ'യിലും ആയിരുന്നു mere babes; also പൊന്നുകൊണ്ട് പാ. TP. പാളക്കയറു a rope for drawing water TP. പാളച്ചെവികള്‍ MC. of an ass (or പാളം?). പാളത്താറു a certain manner of tying the native cloth (= തററുടുക്ക, സോമന്‍കെട്ടുക). പാളാന്‍ (2) No. Tiyars. as called by Pulayars.
