poδi T. M. C. (Tu. pude, see പുത). 1. A bundle, as of victuals; whatever envelopes കല ത്തിന്നു വായ്പൊതി കെട്ടുക a. med. 2. a full bag or bullock-load. പൊതി പിടിക്ക to be carried on beasts of burthen. ഇരുനൂറു പൊതി പുക യിലയും കച്ചയും TR. 3. a measure = 20 Iḍanga/?/i CS. ഒരു പൊതി അരി = മൂട (vu.). പൊതി നെല്ലു = 25 Iḍ. V1. (50 No.) ഒരു പൊതി ക്കു മുപ്പതു വിത്തു (Cavāi) others = 33½ Iḍang. അരിപ്പൊതി Arb.; also a number: 1 പൊതിച്ച ക്കര Cann. 100, Telly. 50, Cal. 10 pieces. പൊതിക്കാരന്‍ an owner of pack-bullocks. പൊതിക്കാള an ox of burthen. പൊതിക്കെട്ടു a bundle tied up ചോറു പൊ'ട്ടാ യി കെട്ടുന്നു TP. പൊതിച്ചോറു rice or victuals tied up for a journey ഒരു മുണ്ടില്‍ തൈര്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു പൊ. കെട്ടി Arb. പൊതിനാവു mint, Arb. Palg. (see പോതിക). പൊതിപ്പത്തു or പോററിപ്പത്തു a tenth of the seed-corn formerly paid to temples, but merged in the general assessment. W. പൊതിപ്പാടു a measure of rice-land requiring a Poδi of seed to sow it. എനിക്കു സ്വന്ത മായി ൬ പൊ. കണ്ടം ൧൨ പൊ. പണയം വക കണ്ടങ്ങള്‍ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു (Becal). പൊതിമാടു Palg. = പൊതിക്കാള.

pattāyam & പത്താഴം V1.(Tu. patāyi, Port. pataya) A large chest to keep rice, treasure. പ. നെല്ലിട്ടടെച്ചാല്‍ TR., പ' ത്തില്‍ വെച്ചിരുന്ന പെട്ടി MR., പ'ത്തിന്‍റെ ചെടി or ചട്ടം No. its grooved framework receiving the boards. — നെല്ലുപ., കട്ടപ. a granary; നീര്‍പ. a cistern, reservoir in ships. എലി പ്പ. So. a trap. പത്തായക്കാരന്‍ No. sc. who possesses grain, കടം വാങ്ങിയാല്‍ പ'നോടു വാങ്ങേണം prov. പത്തായപ്പുര 1. a granary, also പത്തായക്കെട്ടു. 2. an upper story കുടിയില്‍ സ്ഥലമില്ലായ്ക കൊണ്ടു ഒരു പ. മാളിക കയററി MR. (Palg. = ഇരുനിലപ്പുര); also a wing = തെക്കിനി. പത്തായോദരഭുക്തി VyM. the loan of a patta- yam. I.

pāvāḍa 5. (പാവു, ആട). 1. Cloth spread in the streets, as at a king's coronation നട പാ. വിരിക്ക, also awning പാ. കൊടിയും പട്ടും വിരിക്കയും Nal. 2. table-cloth or other sheet used to fan പാ. എടുത്തു വീശിയും, പഞ്ച വര്‍ണ്ണപ്പാ. വീശുവാനായി KR.

paruγuγa T. M. C. Tu. 1. To drink, sip, nibble വണ്ടു പൈന്തെളി പരുകുവാന്‍ RC.;

paγaram (see foll.) 1. Exchange, equivalent, return. ഇതിന്‍ പ. നാം ചെയ്യേണം Bhr. revenge. പ. ഒന്നും ചെയ്തുകൂടാ TR., പകരത്തി ന്നു പ. like for like. പകരം വീട്ടുക, വീളുക, കൊടുക്ക to remunerate, retaliate. പ. ആക്ക to substitute. അതിനു പ. പറഞ്ഞില്ല TP. no reply. 2. adv. in exchange, അവനെക്കൊന്ന തിന്നു പ. ഇവനെക്കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ TR. in retaliation (=പ്രതി); instead of, ഇതിന്നു പ. for this. 3. പകരം കുതെച്ചു (261.) കുത്തുക No. to cut rectangular grooves in the edge of a board etc. (to rabbet, Arch.) പകരി 1. turning round about, sudden start. പ. കൊണ്ടിരിക്ക V1. to be dizzy. 2. a fish, (see പകിരി) B.

puṭṭa B. A. fox, jackal. പുട്ടല്‍ (& പിട്ടല്‍. = പുട്ടില്‍). പുട്ടല്‍പീര Trichosanthes anguina (പടോലം?).

paṭṭil So. A bamboo, a place where bamboos grow ഇല്ലിപ്പട്ടില്‍ V2. (പട്ടല്‍ = പടല്‍ V1.) പട്ടിലന്‍ B. a barber of a low class.

pōkkaḍam No. l. (പോക്കു l) & pl. പോ'ങ്ങള്‍ Palg. What falls off, as chips = ത ളളുമരം etc. met. അവന്നു വലിയ പോ. വന്നു he has suffered loss & is hard up. 2. (പോ ക്കു 3) shift, means ഇനിക്കു പോക്കടം ഇല്ല No. = പോക്കിടം, കഴിവു, കൊണ്ടു പോക്കു.
