pāvaγaǹ S. (പൂ). Pure പാവകയാ കിയ ധാരണ CG. purifying; Agni, the fire. പാവകഭാവത്തെ പൂണ്ടു CG. burning from rage.

pūriγa S. 1. A cake. 2. T. So. P. būrī, C. ബൂരിഗെ a certain trumpet V1. (B. in Hos. 5, 8.) I.

pēna (Gond. penk fr. പേ? penates V1.) 1. A ghost, spirit അമ്മ മരിച്ചു പേനയായി കൂ ടി TP. പേന കൂടി the cause of children's illness f. i. കൊതിപ്പേന കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു said of infants that wish for every thing. The malady is cured by an offering in the chamber of the ancestors പേനെക്കു കൊടുക്ക. 2. a miser of the worst description.

pēḍa T. M. (fr. പെട q. v., Te. pēḍe beardless face). The female of a deer, turtle; a pea-hen etc. മൃഗപ്പേടയെക്കണ്ടു Nal. കുയില്‍ പേടച്ചൊല്‍ CG. പേടമാന്‍ doe.— പേ. തടങ്കണ്ണാള്‍ RC. പേ. ക ണ്ണിമാര്‍ Nal. — യാള്‍ VetC.

puṇyam S. (പുഷ്?) 1. Good, favorable. 2. pure (as if from പൂ √) as in കൈപ്പുണ്യം Sil. cleanliness. 3. a good action എണ്ണമററീ ടുന്ന പു'ങ്ങള്‍ വിണ്ണിടം എങ്ങും നടത്തുക CG. ദണ്ഡ്യന്മാരല്ലാത പു'മാണ്ടുള്ളോര്‍ CG. യജിക്കുന്ന പു. ഭജിക്കുന്ന പു. ജപിക്കുന്ന പു. സമസ്തം ഫലം SiPu. 4. merit അന്നു വരേ ചെയ്ത പു'ങ്ങള്‍ നശിച്ചു പോം VyM. ചെയ്തൊരു പു'ത്തിന്നന്ത മില്ല എന്നതോ നിര്‍ണ്ണയമേ CG. she must have acquired much merit to attain such a lot. പു. അര്‍ജ്ജിക്ക; പു. നിങ്കല്‍ ആക്കി AR3. transfer my merits. പുണ്യകര്‍മ്മം S. 1. a good action, opp. പാപകര്‍മ്മം GuP. 2. a holy ceremony, as of Brahmans. പുണ്യകാലം S. holy season, a feast.
