Te. pučču, Tu. puringu) To be eaten or infected by worms, putrify, rot കാലും കയ്യും പുഴുത്ത ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗ ന്ധവും SiPu. (of leprosy). അരിഞ്ഞു കളഞ്ഞു കാച്ചൂതും ചെയ്ക എന്നാല്‍ പു. യില്ല a. med. (cancer). പുഴുത്തു പോക; പുഴുത്ത (vu. പുയി ത്തി) നായി vu. No. (abuse) etc. VN. പുഴുപ്പു being worm-eaten; rottenness. പുഴുക്കടി a skin-disease, chiefly one produced by the first rains, വിഷവെള്ളത്താലേ കാ ല്ക്ക പുണ്ണുണ്ടാകുന്ന പു.; also ringworm കുള ന്പില്‍ പു. കടിച്ചു TP. of a bull, see തല ച്ചൊറി 394. പുഴുക്കടിക്കായി fruit of an Asclepias, employed to counteract it. പുഴുക്കരണം a time in each fortnight, unfavorable to sowing (astrol.) പുഴുക്കുത്തു canker, the damage trees suffer from worms, caterpillars, etc. പുഴുക്കുത്തുക, പുഴക്കേടു. പുഴുക്കൂടു a worm's nest, (of പച്ചപ്പുഴ used as bag for പുതുപ്പണം), a cocoon. പുഴുക്കൊത്തി the hoopoe. പുഴുക്കൊല്ലി a vermifuge Justicia nasuta, Rh. (Aristolochia T.) പുഴുത്തീനി the fly-catcher MC. പുഴുത്തുള worm-bite, ആമാടെക്കു പു. നോക്കേ ണ്ട prov. don't find fault with. പുഴുനൂല്‍ raw silk. പുഴുപ്പല്ലു rotten tooth. പുഴുപ്പല്ലന്‍ m., — പ്പല്ലി f. having decayed teeth.

paδa 1. Boiling, throbbing; also T. 2. foam, froth, as on toddy. പത കളക V2. to skim. പതയുക So. to foam, bubble — VN. പതച്ചല്‍. പതെക്ക T. M. 1. to palpitate V1. 2. v. n. to boil up, foam പതെച്ച വെള്ളം vu.; so ഭൂമി, ഓട്ടുപുര etc., പൂഴി പതെച്ചിട്ടു കടപ്പുറത്തു നടന്നൂട emitting heat, തല നൊന്തു പ. No. 3. v. a. So. to agitate. CV. (2) വെള്ളം etc. പതെപ്പിക്ക = തിളപ്പിക്ക.

paltmam S. (padma). 1. A lotus flower = താമരപ്പൂ, and what is like it, as a വ്യൂഹം Bhr. 2. a high number = 100,000 മഹാവൃന്ദം. One മഹാപ. = 100,000 പത്മം KR. പത്മഗര്‍ഭം S. 1. born from lotus. 2. a ceremony, the Rāja being born again out of a golden lotus, Trav. (see ഹിരണ്യഗര്‍ഭം). പത്മനാഭന്‍ S. from whose navel a lotus flower arises, Višṇu. ഇപ്പനകള്‍ ഏഴും എയ്ത പത്മ നാഭ Anj. of Rāma. Often പത്മനാഭസ്വാ മി & പ'നാഭി Višṇu. as worshipped in Tiruvanantapuram. — ശ്രീ പ'ഭദാസന്‍ title of the Travancore Rāja. — പ'ഭപുരം‍ N. pr. of the temple & palace in Travancore. പത്മരാഗം lotus-coloured; a ruby. പത്മാകരം a lotus-tank. പത്മാക്ഷന്‍, (പത്മേക്ഷണന്‍ AR.) m., — ക്ഷി f. lotus-eyed. പത്മാസനം one of the 9 postures in യോ ഗം. — പ'ന്‍, പത്മസംഭവന്‍ AR. Brahma. പത്മി a spotted elephant. പത്മിനി a lotus plant & lotus-tank; a woman of the best class, rare now-a-days.

punam (T. high ground). 1. A jungle, chiefly highland overrun with underwood & capable of irregular cultivation പു. കൊത്തുക, കരിപ്പിടുക TR. the process of cutting down & burning the underwood, say once in 12 years for sowing jungle-rice. പുനനെല്ലു, പുനകൃഷി, പുനം പൈമാശി TR. N. ദേവസ്വത്തിന്നു ൨ പൊതിപ്പാടു പുനം വാങ്ങി jud. 2. a cover, hole പാന്പു പുനത്തിന്നു പോന്നു TP. പുനക്കണ്ടം a hill-tract. പുനന്പു rattan (= പുരന്പു). പുനന്പന്‍ D. a head-man among Chègōns. പുനംവാരം rent of produce from jungle cultivation.
