Te. pučču, Tu. puringu) To be eaten or infected by worms, putrify, rot കാലും കയ്യും പുഴുത്ത ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗ ന്ധവും SiPu. (of leprosy). അരിഞ്ഞു കളഞ്ഞു കാച്ചൂതും ചെയ്ക എന്നാല്‍ പു. യില്ല a. med. (cancer). പുഴുത്തു പോക; പുഴുത്ത (vu. പുയി ത്തി) നായി vu. No. (abuse) etc. VN. പുഴുപ്പു being worm-eaten; rottenness. പുഴുക്കടി a skin-disease, chiefly one produced by the first rains, വിഷവെള്ളത്താലേ കാ ല്ക്ക പുണ്ണുണ്ടാകുന്ന പു.; also ringworm കുള ന്പില്‍ പു. കടിച്ചു TP. of a bull, see തല ച്ചൊറി 394. പുഴുക്കടിക്കായി fruit of an Asclepias, employed to counteract it. പുഴുക്കരണം a time in each fortnight, unfavorable to sowing (astrol.) പുഴുക്കുത്തു canker, the damage trees suffer from worms, caterpillars, etc. പുഴുക്കുത്തുക, പുഴക്കേടു. പുഴുക്കൂടു a worm's nest, (of പച്ചപ്പുഴ used as bag for പുതുപ്പണം), a cocoon. പുഴുക്കൊത്തി the hoopoe. പുഴുക്കൊല്ലി a vermifuge Justicia nasuta, Rh. (Aristolochia T.) പുഴുത്തീനി the fly-catcher MC. പുഴുത്തുള worm-bite, ആമാടെക്കു പു. നോക്കേ ണ്ട prov. don't find fault with. പുഴുനൂല്‍ raw silk. പുഴുപ്പല്ലു rotten tooth. പുഴുപ്പല്ലന്‍ m., — പ്പല്ലി f. having decayed teeth.

puram S. (= പൂര്‍, പുര). 1. A fort, town. 2. a house (അന്ത:പുരം). പരദ്വാരം S. city-gate KR. പുരദ്വിട്ട് S. (ദ്വിഷ്) the city destroyer, Siva. പു'ട്ടിനെ സംഭാവിച്ചു Bhg.; also പുരമഥ നന്‍, പുരഭിത്തു, പുരരിപു. പുരന്ദരന്‍ S. the fort-breaker, Indra. Bhr. പുരപ്രീതി S. popularity. അവന്‍റെ പു. ഘോ ഷിച്ചു കഴിപ്പിച്ചു Mud. a feast designed to gain popularity. പുരസ്ഥന്‍ S. an inhabitant KR. & പുരവാസി. പുരട്ടാതി T. So. = പൂരുട്ടാതി the month Sept. ഇ പ്പിരട്ടാതി മാസത്തില്‍ KR. (ഇതു ചിങ്ങമാസം).

paǹǰa So. (C. Te. പഞ്ചു to divide = ക ണ്ടം?). A ricefleld വേലി പ. തിന്നു തുടങ്ങി, പ. പുറത്തിട്ടു വേലി കെട്ടുക prov.; കൃഷി പ. കള്‍ MC.; പശുക്കള്‍ പ. കള്‍ അഴിച്ചാല്‍ VyM.; പ. കാണ്മതില്ല Anj.

paṇam 5. S. (√ പണ്‍ to exchange, buy, bet) 1. Coin, fanam; chiefly of silver വെള്ളിപ്പ. 1/5 Rup. since 1730, (100 Billy fanam = Rs. 18 pice 4½ correct mint value, see Malabar Gazette 15th June 1867); formerly gold f. പൊന്‍പ. of which (പഴയപ.) 4, 3¾, (പു തിയ പ.) 3½ = 1 Rup. paikkam So. 1. (പൈ II.) Hunger. 2. Tdbh. of ഭൈക്ഷം alms; mendicity, meanness. പൈക്കിടാവു (പൈ I.). പൈ'ങ്ങളേ മേച്ചു Bhr. So. A female calf; a steer fit to be let loose. പൈങ്കം (പൈ IV.) N. pr. fem. പൈങ്കണ്ണി Palg. a tree. പൈങ്കിളി green parrot (even പന്കിളി‍‍). A sentry, guard, arrest. പാറാവില്‍ പാര്‍പ്പിച്ചു, തടുത്തു പാ'വാക്കി, കച്ചേരിയില്‍ പാ'വാക്കി TR. പാ' വില്‍നിന്നു കിഴിച്ചു വിട്ടയച്ചു, പാ. നീക്കി, പാ. വിടുത്തയക്ക to release from confinement. പാറാക്കാരന്‍ a sentry, also പാറാവു നില്ക്കുന്ന ആള്‍, ൪ പാറാവു ശിപ്പായ്മാര്‍ TR 4 guards. പാറാപ്പുര a guard-house. പാറാവളയം a hoop of players.

pariṇṇal (fr. പരിക്കു). 1. Scratched surface, hurt skin. 2. V1. the roe of fish, rather പരിഞ്ഞില്‍. 3. griet, distraction. പരിങ്ങു V1. the hilt of a sword (or — ഞ്ഞു) പരിങ്ങുക 1. to be perplexed. 2. to lie in wait, steal V1; to pluck grass B. CV. പരിങ്ങിക്ക to confound.

H. paṭālan, A battalion, regiment, army — പട്ടാളക്കാര്‍ etc. പട്ടാളിച്ചുപോക No. (പട്ട) = പോളിച്ചുപോക paddy, greens, etc. over-grown on account of too much shadow or manure, having leaves only but no fruit, (comp. പട്ടെക്ക).
