ponda So. No. Weṭṭ. A thicket overgrown with grass V1. പൊന്തയാക = പടരുക. പൊന്തന്‍ B. stout but inactive; a large useless plantain (= without weight). പൊന്തി T. M. (No. also പൊന്തിക) a fencing foil, club of wood, the insignia of a fencing master (S. ഗദ). പൊന്തിയും പലിശയു മായി TP.; there is also an ഇരിന്പു പൊ. In KU. പൊന്തിക, പൊന്തിയ; പൊന്തിവാള്‍ a wooden sword. — പൊന്തിപ്പയററു, പൊ ന്തിയടവു fencing. പൊ. ത്തല്ല് ഒന്നു തടു ക്കാന്‍ പോരാ TP. പൊന്തു = പൊങ്ങു 1. a float, പിടിക്കുന്ന ചൂണ്ട ലിന്‍റെ പൊന്തു MC.; also പൊന്തല്‍ f. i. പൊന്തല്‍മരം No. floating timber (see പൊ ങ്ങല്‍). 2. No. = കെട്ടുക; also അപ്പം, ചിതള്‍. കിഴക്കു കതിരോന്‍ ഉദി ച്ചുപൊന്തി TP. — met. വില പൊന്തിപ്പോക അഹങ്കാരംകൊണ്ടു പൊ. V1. (rare). CV. പൊന്തിക്ക to raise, hold up തല പൊന്തി ച്ചു കൂടാ MR. (one wounded) = പൊങ്ങിക്ക.

pušyam S. (cream fr. പുഷ് as of Amrita, Ved.) = പൂയം f. i. നാള ഉരു പുഷ്യം KR. പുഷ്യ നക്ഷത്രം AR. പുഷ്യരാഗം, see പുഷ്പരാഗം.

pūńńa 1. The hump of a bull (fr. കൂ ഞ്ഞു, So. പൂഞ്ഞക്കുററി) 2. muscles of the nape of the neck, the size & strength of which mark the born king തടിച്ച പൂ.യുള്ളവന്‍. An insect is called പൂഴിക്കാപ്പൂഞ്ഞ. പൂഞ്ഞാന്‍ (T. പൂഞ്ചാന്‍ a grass) a pastil, cake of perfume V1., benzoin V2. (പൂഞ്ഞാന്‍ കട്ട).

pirakkuγa 1. = വി — To mix, to rub into മീന്‍ മുറിച്ചു ഉപ്പു പിരക്കി വെച്ചു, ഉപ്പും മുളകും മഞ്ഞളും പിരക്കിയിടുക, വെക്ക No. (f. i. അച്ചാര്‍). 2. to set an elephant to work, drive him V1.; പിരക്കിതെളിക്ക Weṭṭ. to urge on cattle (with a shout), കന്നു പിരക്ക Palg. = തിരിക്കുക to turn them.

peṭṭi T. M. Te. (C. peṭṭige, Tu. peṭṭe from Te. പെട്ടു to put, place പിടം S.). 1. punam (T. high ground). 1. A jungle, chiefly highland overrun with underwood & capable of irregular cultivation പു. കൊത്തുക, കരിപ്പിടുക TR. the process of cutting down & burning the underwood, say once in 12 years for sowing jungle-rice. പുനനെല്ലു, പുനകൃഷി, പുനം പൈമാശി TR. N. ദേവസ്വത്തിന്നു ൨ പൊതിപ്പാടു പുനം വാങ്ങി jud. 2. a cover, hole പാന്പു പുനത്തിന്നു പോന്നു TP. പുനക്കണ്ടം a hill-tract. പുനന്പു rattan (= പുരന്പു). പുനന്പന്‍ D. a head-man among Chègōns. പുനംവാരം rent of produce from jungle cultivation.

pišṭam S. (part. pass. of പിഷ്, L. pinso) Pounded; flour. പിഷ്ടകം S. = അപ്പം Vl. പിസ്ക്കാരി No. palg, a small syringe = പീച്ചാ ങ്കഴല്‍, വസ്തിക്കുഴല്‍. പിളക്ക, ന്നു T. M. and പുളക്ക, mod.
