bhaġaṇam S. (ഭം a star, fr. ഭാ). The host of stars, zodiac; also = 1/12 രാശി (astr.). ചതുര്‍യ്യുഗത്തിങ്കലേ ഭഗണഭൂദിനങ്ങള്‍, തികഞ്ഞ ഭ'ങ്ങള്‍ ഉളവാകും Gan. ഭഗണന്‍ an astrologer, ജാതകഫലം ചൊല്ലി ഓരോരോ ഭ'ന്മാര്‍ KR. (prh. ഭാഗണന്‍?). ഭഗവതി, ഭഗവാന്‍, see ഭഗം. ഭഗിനി S. (the happy) a sister. ഭഗീരഥന്‍ N. pr. a king that brought Gauga from heaven down to the earth. Brhmd. — ഭഗീരഥപ്രയത്നംപോലേ prov. of Herculean tasks.

bhāṭṭam S. (ഭട്ട). A division of the old Kēraḷa Brahmans (2 others are പ്രഭാകരം & വ്യാകരണം) derived from one ഭാട്ടപ്രഭാകര വ്യാകരണന്‍, whose shoe (മെതിയടി) is said to be preserved in തൃക്കണ്ണാപുരം, തൃക്കല്‍പുറം KU. (others = പാട്ടം usufruction). ഭാട്ടന്‍ S. a follower of ഭട്ടന്‍. ഭാഡ (loc.) = ബാഡ.

bhrāndaǹ S. (part. of ഭ്രമ്). 1. Roaming, confused. 2. mad; also N. pr. a Paradēvata ഭ്രാന്തജളബധിരാന്ധമൂകൈസ്സമം സഞ്ച രിച്ചു Bhg. walking with the mad, silly, blind, etc., the highest സന്ന്യാസം. ഭ്രാന്തി 1. S. whirling, error, madness കാമ ഭ്രാ. etc. ജലസ്ഥലഭ്രാ. Bhg. fancying there is water where none is to be found. 2. M. (loc.) a mad woman ഭ്രാന്തികള്‍ B. ഭ്രാന്തി ച്ചി (better ഭ്രാന്ത, ഭ്രാന്തമാര്‍). ഭ്രാന്തു Tdbh. delirium; madness. തന്നേത്താന്‍ മറക്കയും പിരാന്തു പറകയും MM. delirious, ഭ്രാ. പറയുന്നതു തീരും Tantr. ഭ്രാ. പിടിക്ക to go mad. ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടിവര്‍ക്ക് എന്നു ചൊല്ലുവോര്‍ CG. പുത്രഭര്‍ത്താവെന്നുള്ളൊരു ഭ്രാന്തുകള്‍ KR. absurd notions. — Hence ഭ്രാന്താളി, ഭ്രാന്താ ളിത്വം (loc.) madness.

bhāri (ഭാരം). Heavy, serious; tall. ഭാരികം S. = ഘനത്തിരിക്ക Asht. f. i. the heart, a limb in sickness. ഭാര്‍ഗ്ഗവന്‍ S. derived from ഭൃഗു, 1. as Parašurāma (ഭാര്‍ഗ്ഗവരാമന്‍ AR.) — ഭാര്‍ഗ്ഗവപുരാണം = പരശുരാമായണം KM. 2. a name of ശൂ ക്രന്‍, regent of Venus ഭാ. മീനത്തിലും — നി ല്ക്കുന്പോള്‍ AR.

bhairavam S. (ഭീരു, but vu. ഭൈ രം = വൈരം anger). Horrid ഭൈ'മായ രൂപം KR. ഭൈരവരസം the emotion of horror, in po. ഭൈരവന്‍ S. N. pr. a Sivamūrti, or Paradēvata, riding on a dog (worshipped in Saktipūǰa). ഭൈരവി S. a form of Kāḷi പൂതന എന്നൊരു ഭൈ. CG.

bhaḷḷu (V1. പളു prh. fr. പഴു, പാഴ് or വളുതം, വള്ളു). 1. Ostentation, show ഭള്ളിനായി ഭസ്മം തേച്ച Si Pu. ഭള്ളുള്ള നിന്‍റെ ഭാവം അറി യാതേ KR. (says Bāli to Rāma). ഭ. പറഞ്ഞു Bhr. boasted. ഭള്ളുകള്‍ അവരോടു കൂടുകയില്ല CrArj. menaces. 2. exaggeration, lie ഭള്ളും പൊള്ളും. ഭള്ളല്ല VilvP. quite true! ഭ. കാട്ടുക, ഭാവിക്ക B. to counterfeit, trick. ഭള്ളന്‍ vainglorious മഹാഭ.

bhīsaṇam S. (caus. of ഭീ). Frightening മഹാവനം ഭീ. ഭയങ്കരം Nal. ദണ്ഡിയെ ക്കാള്‍ അതിഭീ'മായി CG. — അധികഭീഷണനായ കാശ്മീരനാഥന്‍ Mud. awful. ഭീ'മായുള്ള വാക്കു കള്‍ Mud. threats. ഭീഷണി 1. a form of Kāḷi. 2. frightening ഭീ. കാട്ടുക, ഭീ. പ്രകാരത്തെ ചെയ്ക Nal. to terrify; esp. of threats ഭീരുവാം നിന്നുടെ ഭീ. കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ SG നിന്നുടെ ഭീ. നമ്മോടു കൂടുമോ KR. thy menaces will not affect me. ഭീഷ്മം = ഭീമം S. — ഭീഷ്മര്‍ N. pr. son of Santanu.

bhāram S. (ഭര്‍). 1. Burden, load ഭാരേണ സന്തപ്തഭൂമിദേവി AR.; met. oppression എ ന്‍റെ ഭാ. നീക്കി വെച്ചു രക്ഷിക്ക, ഭാ. തീര്‍ക്ക TR. to relieve. ഭാരപ്പെട്ടു പോക to be hampered, molested. 2. onus, charge രാജ്യഭാ. ചെയ്ക = ഭരിക്ക. 3. a weight of 20 തുലാം, = Kaṇḍi ൬ ഭാ. വെടിമരുനനു TR. (see പാരം). ഭാരക്കട്ടി a weight (കട്ടി 3, 195). ഭാരക്കല്ലു a stone on a watering machine. ഭാരത്തുലാം a main beam across rooms. ഭാരയഷ്ടി S. = കാവടി. ഭാരവാഹന്‍ S. a porter.
