bhāṭṭam S. (ഭട്ട). A division of the old Kēraḷa Brahmans (2 others are പ്രഭാകരം & വ്യാകരണം) derived from one ഭാട്ടപ്രഭാകര വ്യാകരണന്‍, whose shoe (മെതിയടി) is said to be preserved in തൃക്കണ്ണാപുരം, തൃക്കല്‍പുറം KU. (others = പാട്ടം usufruction). ഭാട്ടന്‍ S. a follower of ഭട്ടന്‍. ഭാഡ (loc.) = ബാഡ.

bhāryam S. (ഭര). To be supported. ഭാര്യ S. the wife ഭാ. യായി പിന്നാലേ SiPu. followed the other as a wife. ഭാര്യാപതികള്‍ husband & wife. — ഭാര്യാവാന്‍ = ഭാര്യയുള്ളവന്‍.

bhēttāvụ S. (ഭിദ്). I treat all alike, no preference. ഗോചണ്ഡാലാദിഭേ. സമത്വം എ ന്ന ഭാവം സിദ്ധിക്കേണം Bhg. 3. species, kind. 4. change, esp. for the better ഒട്ടും ഭേദമായിട്ടില്ല, ദണ്ഡത്തിന്നു ഭേ. വന്നാല്‍, ദീ നം അസാരം ഭേ. ഉണ്ടു, ദീനം കുറഞ്ഞൊന്നു ഭേ. വന്നാല്‍ TR. ഭേ. വരുത്തുക to cure, improve. തീര്‍പ്പു ഭേ. വരുത്തി MR. altered the decree (= മാററി). ഭേദപ്പെടുത്തുക (mod.) to alter, amend. ഭേദനം S. dividing. തന്‍ വചനഭേ. കൊണ്ടി പ്പോള്‍ Mud. succeeded in sowing dissensions. ഭേദപ്പൊയ്കള്‍ (2) illusions based on the differences of things, KeiN. ഭേദാഭേദങ്ങള്‍ (3) various items, നമുക്കുള്ള വ ഹെക്ക എടുക്കുന്നു ഭേ. bhaṭṭaǹ S. (= ഭര്‍ത്താ). Lord, title of learned Brahmans, (Tdbh. പട്ടര്‍). ഭട്ടതിരി, vu. പട്ടേരി the highest class of Kēraḷa Brahmans; also called ഭട്ടാചാര്യര്‍ teachers of philosophy, who restored Brahmanism after the Bauddha rule KU. — ഭട്ടാ ചാര്യന്‍gen. = Kumārilabhaṭṭa.

bhiṇṇaǹ (aC. biṇ stout, Tu. buṇa pole). Stout, heavy അന്പങ്ങു ഭിണ്ണനും കൊ ണ്ടൊരുനേരം RS. the blockhead (Rāvaṇa). ഭിണ്ണാകാരം gross (fr. പിണ്ഡം).
