S. 1. (മന്‍). Self-confidence, pride മാ. നടിക്ക = അഭിമാനം; മാനമദങ്ങള്‍ അശേഷം ഒഴിച്ചു Bhg. passions. ഞാന്‍ എന്നും എനിക്കെ ന്നുമുള്ള മാ. കളക; എന്നോടു നേരായവരില്ലെ ന്ന മാ. Bhr. പെണ്ണുങ്ങളില്‍ മാ. അടക്കും, മാ. ഇല്ലാതൊരു മാ. മനസ്സില്‍ എഴുന്നു CG. self-conceitedness, prudery, bashfulness. 2. honor, rank, respectability, urbanity ബ്രാഹ്മണരെ മാ. കെടുത്തു ദു:ഖിപ്പിച്ചു TR. Tippu disgraced & persecuted them. മാ. ഇയന്നു Bhr. = മാന ത്തോടു courteously. മാനത്തിന്നു പായുക No. for honor's sake (cattle). 3. (മാ) measure = പ്ര മാണം, as മാഷാദിമാനം കണക്കു Nal. ചന്ദ്രമാ. calculation by the moon's motion. 4. prh. = മന്നം in വാനവര്‍ എല്ലാരും മാനിപ്പാനായി മാ നത്തു വന്നു നിറഞ്ഞു CG. (or മാനം I.) മാനക്കുറവു MR. dishonor, disgrace = അപ മാനം. മാനക്കേടു id. മാനം കെട്ടും പണം നേടിക്കൊ ണ്ടാല്‍ മാ. അപ്പണം പോക്കിക്കൊള്ളും prov. മാ. അനുഭവിക്ക TR. to suffer shameful treatment. മാനക്ഷയം S. id. നമ്മെ മാ. വരുത്തി TR. dishonored. മാനനം S. honoring. മാനനീയന്‍ S. honorable Nal. മാനപ്രാണത്തോടേ പോരിക TR. to escape without loss of honor or life. മാനഭംഗം S. disgrace ലജ്ജയും ലഘുത്വവും മാ' വും ഫലം Nal.

mēyya No. (= മേഷ). A flaw in a log of sawn or worked timber arising from its not having been properly squared.

mina (= വിന). 1. Work. 2. evil work = തീവിന, as മിനെക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക to attempt some evil. മിന കാണിക്ക to show a bad disposition. മിനക്കെടുക 1. to idle away time. 2. to have leisure for nothing besides. നിത്യം ഈവ ണ്ണം മി'ട്ടിരുന്നു Bhg. behaved always thus. എന്തിന്നു മി'ട്ടു ഈ കാര്യം പറയുന്നു continually. ഇത്രനാളും മി'ട്ടു പഠിച്ചു Bhg. uninterruptedly. VN. മിനക്കേടു being unoccupied; time & labor spent to no purpose. മിനക്കെടുക്ക to cumber, interrupt work; make idle.

maṇṇuγa T. M. (from മഴു, മാഴ് Te. Tu. C. maṇku, see under മങ്ക). To grow dim, wan, pale സൂര്യനും മങ്ങിനാന്‍ KR. മങ്ങിക്ക ത്തുക (a lamp). മങ്ങിയനിറം faded. നേത്രങ്ങള്‍ മങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങി Nal.
