(Coch.), മന്തുകാല്‍; hence മന്തുകാലന്‍, മന്തന്‍ having a swollen leg, (f. മന്തി). മന്തുകോല്‍ 2. id. ആച്ചിമാരേ മ. കൊണ്ട് അടി കൊണ്ടോനേ! (song).

Ar. maqām, A station, holy spot or tomb ആ മകാമിന്‍റെ അകത്തു Ti.

mantram S. (മന്‍). Production of the mind. 1. a hymn, prayer, ശിവസ്തോത്രമ. ജപി ക്കും SiPu. മ. ജപിപ്പിന്‍ ChVr. pray! മ. കൊ

marumaγaǹ T. M. Tu. (മരുവുക or Te. mar̀a, C. mari from മറി 1.). 1. Sister's son മക്കള്‍ക്കു മടിയില്‍ ചവിട്ടാം മ'ക്കള്‍ക്കു വള പ്പിലും ചവിട്ടരുതു prov. 2. T. So. a son-in-law പാഞ്ചാലന്‍റെ മ'ക്കള്‍ ഐവര്‍ Bhr. — മ രുമകള്‍ f. മരുമക്കത്തായം (ദായം) inheritance in the female line, as practised by 17 Brahm. Illam in Payanūr, by Kšatriya, Tirumulpāḍu, Nāyar, Ūrāḷi, Āndōr, Paḷḷichaǹ, Kušavaǹ, Vyābāri, Kōlayāǹ, Chembōṭṭi, Pišāroḍi, Vāriyaǹ, Nambi, Teyambāḍi, Mārāǹ, Poδuvāḷ, Kūttunambi, Attikurichi, Uṇṇitiri, Erāḍi, Vaḷḷōḍi, Neḍungāḍi, Veḷuttēḍaǹ, Chāliyaǹ; Tīyaǹ (No. & Trav.) മരുവകം S. māččaǹ The clown or fool of the theatre, മാ. കളി low jests (fr. മാച്ചു?).

maččunaǹ T. M. (T. maittunan, C. meiduna, Te. mar̀andi). The son of an uncle (mother's brother) or of father's sister മച്ചി നന്‍ Pay., മച്ചൂനന്‍ vu. മച്ചുനന്‍പണം bridegroom's fee to the cousin of the bride. മച്ചൂനബന്ധം മരിച്ചാലും മറക്കുകയില്ല prov. first cousinship. മച്ചൂനിച്ചി daughter of mother's brother or father's sister, regarded as the proper bride for her cousin.

mantham S. (മഥ്). 1. Churning; a preparation of തരിപ്പണം GP. 2. a churn-staff, Tdbh. മന്തു. മന്ഥനം S. churning, euphem, coitus ഗോവി ന്ദനായി മേവുന്ന മന്ഥനം കൊണ്ടു — രുഗ്മി ണിയായൊരു പാല്ക്കടലില്‍ CG. was Pradyumna begotten & മന്തന ചെയ്തു RC.

Ar. makrūh, Suspected, what is neither halāl, nor harām. ? മക്ലോടന്‍ ശേര്‍ A Seer used in Wayanāḍu & the neighbouring districts of Malabar; 2 മ. = 1 കാപ്പാടന്‍ ഒത്ത ഇടങ്ങാഴി or 1¼ ഇളയ തു (1 ഇളയതു = 2 Calicut Seers).

maṭṭiyam (T. a musical measure). Fiattery, obtaining consent by ruse. മട്ടിയക്കാരന്‍ an irresistible flatterer; a trickster.
