maḍa T. M. (C. Te. maḍu). 1. A hollow, hole as of snakes, rats എലിമടയില്‍ പുക്കുകൊള്‍വി ന്‍ Bhr.; കടുവാമലന്പുലി കൂടും മട Anj. the cave of. 2. a sluice, flood-gate. 3. the name of different Iḍangāḷis പതിനാറാം മട or പാട്ട ഇടങ്ങഴി by which the Janmi is paid, holding nearly 5 Nā/?/i, പതിനെട്ടാം മട = വി ല്ക്കുന്ന ഇ. bazar measure of 4 Nā/?/i, ഇരുപതാം മട = ചെലവിടങ്ങാഴി by which servants are paid, little above 3 Nā/?/i. 4. a fold of cattle മടവെക്ക to fence in a piece of ground V1.; മടകൂട്ടുക, മടയില്‍ കൂട്ടുക to bring cattle into the fold.

mēǰaγam S. (മഷി, മൈ). Black, dark മേചകകാന്തി Sah.

mōḍi 5. (fr. മുകടു or C. Te. mōṭa blunt). 1. High bearing, stateliness മോടിയായുടുത്തു, മോ. കള്‍ പലകൂടി ChVr. embellishments. ഞ ങ്ങളെക്കാള്‍ മോ. യായിരിക്ക Arb. grandeur. കോടിദിനേശന്മാര്‍ കൂടി ഉദിച്ചൊരു മോ. കല ര്‍ന്ന പ്രകാശം SG. ചേടചേടീവടന്മാരുടെ മോ. Nal. ധനം ഒടുങ്ങും നേരം മോടിയും നശിച്ചു (comfort, luxury) പട്ടിണിയും അകപ്പെടും Chintar. മൂരിക്കു അന്നേരത്തെ മോ. ഇല്ല No. vu. looks lean etc. 2. fashion (C. mōḍike) മുന്പേത്ത മോടി dress, മോടി ഇങ്ങനേ ചില ചെട്ടികള്‍ക്കു Nal. 3. anything placed by a conjuror who tries to prevent its being removed, മോ. എടുക്ക, വെക്ക. മോടിക്കളി (3) No. = മോടിവിദ്യ. മോടിക്കാരന്‍ haughty, ostentatious. മോടിവിദ്യ (3) sorcery, legerdemain = ചെപ്പിടി. മോട്ടം (see foll.) pride.

mallam 1. = മല്ല or മല്ലകം S. A vessel of a cocoa-nut shell. 2. collyrium B. (fr. മലം?). 3. = മല്ലു, the ribs of a ship inserted in the keel (പാണ്ടി).
