lēbam S. (ലിപ്). Smearing, plastering; a salve, ointment. ലേപനം id. സ്വര്‍ണ്ണലേ. anointing with sandalwood, gold-dust, etc. (kings). കണ്ണിന്‍റെ പുറമേ ലേ. ചെയ്ക a. med. to rub. denV. ലേപിക്ക to smear, rub in; fig. to succeed in a business V1.

lāḍam S. 1. The sea-coast of Sindh, Lā/?/ (Larike of the Romans), ചില ലാടരും Nal. travelling beggars & Gipsy doctors, ലാടവൈ ദ്യന്മാര്‍ paying yearly visits in Mal., called ധര്‍മ്മവൈദ്യന്മാര്‍ No. as they pretend to take payment for the medicines only (ലാടവൈദ്യം). 2. a certain inauspicious time (1 ofനവദോ ഷം). 3. T. C. Te. Tu. horse-shoe, as introduced from Sindh. ലാ. കെട്ടുക Arb., ലാടന്‍ ത റെക്ക vu. to shoe horses & bullocks. ലാടക്കാ രന്‍ a farrier. ലാത്തുക, see ലാകുക. ലാന്തര്‍ E. lantern.

laḷiδam S. (part. pass. of ലല്). Dallying, playful, delicate, delightful കനകമണി ല. ഒരു മാലയും Mud. മണില'കന്ധരം Bhr. അതിലളിതകളേബരം Nal. ഈ ശാസ്ത്രം കുറ യ ല. (opp. ഗംഭീരം). ലളിതോക്തികള്‍ Nal. amusing talk, attractive fiction. ലളിത a lovely woman; also = ദേവി (Sakti).

layam S. (ലൂ). 1. Cutting, a fragment ലവലേശം പോലും സത്യം ഇല്ല vu. not a bit of truth. 2. minute division of time ലവസ മയമൊടു AR. in less than a moment (1/2000 Nā/?/iγa). ലവംഗം S. the clove-tree & ഇല — (113) also രക്തലവങ്കം Vl. cinnamon, in Trav. ലൌ ങ്കപ്പട്ട.
