vāraṇam S. (വൃ). 1. Warding off. വാ. ചെയ്ക VCh. to obstruct. 2. an elephant വാര ണപന്തി Nal. a stable. വാ'ാദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്‍ 25. — വാ രണമുഖവന്‍ Bhg., വാ'ാനനന്‍ Bhr. Gaṇapati. വാരവാണം S. an armour, cuirass (= ബാണ വാരം).

vrāδam S. Assemblage മൃഗവ്രാ. CC. നാനാമൃഗവ്രാതലീല AR. വ്രാത്യന്‍ S. an outcast, uninvested Brahman. വ്രാല്‍ (loc.) = വരാല്‍.

vāram S. (വൃ). 1. Multitude, flock. സി ന്ധുവാരങ്ങള്‍ waves. 2. a time or turn മന്ത്രം ത്രിവാരം ജപിക്ക KR. ഏകവാ. എന്നാലും ജ നിച്ചില്ല Nal. once. 3. a week-day = ആഴ്ച (രവി —, ചന്ദ്ര —, കുജ —, ബുധ —, ഗുരു —, ഭൃഗു —, മന്ദവാരം). വാരനാരി a prostitute, dancing-girl വാരമാ നിനിമാര്‍ Brhmd. വാരമുഖ്യമാര്‍, വാരസുന്ദ രി KR., വാരസ്ത്രീ etc. II.

P. bandi (imprisonment). വ. പിടിക്ക To detain anything for the payment of a debt. So. വന്തോവസ്ത, see —. വന്തൂക്ക് H. bandūq. A firelock.

vakka So. (വക്കു 2). A large elephant-rope. വ. യിട്ടു പിടിക്ക MC. used in catching wild elephants, dragging timber. വക്കത്താഴന്പു scar on the trunk of elephants by its friction.

vāδil (fr. വായില്‍, T. വാചല്‍, C. Tu. ബാഗല്‍, Te. വാകിലി see വായ്). 1. vāṇṇuγa T. M. (C. Tu. bāgu, Te. vānču fr. വണങ്ങു, വഴങ്ങു, വള ?). 1. v. n. To bend, shrink, draw back. വണങ്ങി വാങ്ങിനാര്‍ KR. retired. മഴ വാ. or വാങ്ങി നില്ക്ക, to cease, desist ധാര വാങ്ങിയാല്‍ ത്രിഫലക്കുഴന്പു തേക്ക MM. after. പിന്നോക്കം or പുറം വാ.
