(Te. vadṭṭu, C. battu, Tu. bačču). 1. To grow dry കോരിയാല്‍ വ'മോ സ മുദ്രം, മൂക്കിലേ വെള്ളം വ. ഇല്ല prov. നീര്‍വ ററ (Inf.) ഉണങ്ങേണം (a പരുവം, f. i. of medicines) dry on the outside, not sufficiently so to be reduced to powder. തൊണ്ട വററിവീ ണു ചത്താന്‍ Mud. Mpl.) വേ. നാലെന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ Mpl. po. സത്യവേ. the true religion (Christianity). വേദകലഹം (3) a religious war or quarrel. വേദക്കാന്പു the essence of Scripture = K/?/šṇa വേ'ന്പേ. Anj.; also വേദക്കാതല്‍. വേദക്കാരന്‍ a Mussulman, Christian പെരു മാള്‍ വേ'രെ കപ്പലിന്നു കരെക്ക് എത്തിച്ചു KU. വേദഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ KR. recitation of holy texts, (muttered വേദജപം). വേദജ്ഞോത്തമന്മാര്‍ AR. Voc. fem. വദാന്യന്‍ S. 1. munificent, liberal (അവദാ നം). 2. eloquent. വദിക്ക to speak (part. pass. ഉദിതം), സത്യം എന്നിയേ വ. Nal. വാദ്യങ്ങളെ വദിക്കുന്നവര്‍ Bhr. musicians. — Also VC. വാദ്യങ്ങളേ വദിപ്പിച്ചു CG. വദാം, see ബാദാം.

vaiyaγam T. aM. (വൈ 4.). The world, earth വയ്യകത്താരും തിരിപ്പോരില്ല Anj. — വയ്യം T. aM. id., വയ്യം ഏഴിലും ഇരിട്ടക ററും RC. (the sun).

vēṇam (fr. വേണും q. v.) def. V. It must, ought, is desired. With Inf. പറയായ്ക വേ. Bhr. — Often contr. ചെയ്യേണം, even ചപലതകള്‍ പോണം Ch Vr. must go. രക്ഷി ച്ചരുളേണമേ Bhr.; (not in prayer അരുള്‍ ചെയ്ക വേ. കൃപാനിധേ Si Pu.). hon. എഴു തുക വേ. TP. ഞാന്‍ & എനിക്കു പോകേണം I ought, I want to go. അവര്‍ക്കു മണ്ടേണം CG. they want to run (but ought not). Many ellipses (of ആക, ചെയ്ക etc.) ഈ കാര്യത്തിന്ന് ഏതു പ്രകാരം വേ. TR. നല്ലവന വേണം VCh. നീ ഒരു കാര്യം വേണം Bhr. ഇന്നു നീ ഒന്നു വേ. Nal. വരുവാനുള്ള ഹേതുവെന്തെന്നു വേണമ ല്ലോ KU. (ചൊല്ല —). Often with both Adverbials: തന്നിട്ടു വേ. കൊടുപ്പാന്‍ TR.
