ka represents in Tdbh. the other gutturals (ചങ്കു fr. ശംഖം, കിരിയം fr. ഗൃഹം, കനം fr. ഘനം; കേമം, പക്കം fr. ക്ഷേമം, പക്ഷം; വ രാകന്‍ a M. fr. വരാഹന്‍). ക in the middle of words slides into യ (അരികത്തു, അരിയത്തു), വ (അക, അവ), ഹ (ആഹെ, വഹ TR.) or disappears (പുരുഷകാരം — പുരുഷാരം, ആകും — ആം, എടുത്തുകൊള്ളു — എടുത്തോളു, ഏറനാട്ടു കര — ട്ടര, ചെരിപ്പുകുത്തി — പ്പൂത്തി.).

ǰīrṇam S. (ജര്‍) 1. Worn, tattered; old വയസി ജീര്‍ണ്ണം എന്നാകിലും ദേഹികള്‍ക്ക് ഏററം പ്രിയം ദേഹം AR. (the body often compared to a cloth). ജീര്‍ണ്ണങ്ങളായുള്ളവ ഉപ ജീവിക്കയാലും ഗുന്മം ഉണ്ടാം a. med. old food, not fresh. 2. digested ആഹാരം ജീ'മാകാതേ അതിസാരിക്ക jud. ജീര്‍ണ്ണകുളം a bathing-tank with broken sides. ജീര്‍ണ്ണവസ്ത്രം rags. ജീര്‍ണ്ണോദ്യാനം a ruined garden. ചാക്കിന്നു കോ പ്പിട്ടു ജീ'ത്തില്‍ വന്നു Mud. for suicide. denV. ജീര്‍ണ്ണിക്ക to decay, to fall in ruins അ ന്പലം ജീ'ച്ചു പോയി.‍

piṇa T. M. (C. Te. pena, Tu. puṇe, C. poṇe fr. പിണ്‍ = പിടിക്ക 2). 1. Tying, yoke പി. കെട്ടുക; പി. അഴിക്ക to unyoke. 2. being involved, bail, surety. ഞാന്‍ പിണയോ am I responsible? പി. പറക to accuse. 3. coupling; equal = ഇണ. ഇണയല്ലാത്തവനോടു പി ണകൂടി prov. പിണയാള്‍, (also — ാളി, — ാളന്‍) a substitute. പിണയുക (= പിടയുക). 1.
