kelpụ T. കെര്‍റപു (C. Tu. Te. ഗെല്ലു = വെല്ലു) Strength, power; കെല്പേറും ആയുധം Bhr.; കെല്പിയന്നു, ചൊല്ലുവാന്‍ കെല്പുള്ളവര്‍ CG. able. കെല്പാര്‍ന്നു നിന്നുള്ള ഉല്പാതം CG. mighty prodigies. കെല്പേറയുള്ള വീരന്‍ AR. കെല്പോ ടു കടിച്ചു PT. കെല്പുകേടു infirmity, dismay. കെ. എന്തൊന്നു വന്നതു ചൊല്ലുക KR. കെല്പര്‍ the mighty (opp. അല്പര്‍) KR.

stands for ഛ (ചായം), ജ (ചലം), ഝ (ച ടിതി), ശ (ചാത്തം fr. ശ്രാ., ചാക്യാര്‍ fr. ശ്ലാ.), ഷ (ചടങ്ങു), സ (ചേകവന്‍), (നച്ചിയം); ക്ഷ (ചാരം,തച്ചന്‍), even for ദ്യ (ചൂതു) and യ (ചോ നകന്‍) & dialectically ര (രാ —in TP. ചാ —). Palatal vowels may change a dental into ച (തെള്ളു —, ചെള്ളു; പരിതു— പരിചു, as in grammar കടിച്ചു from കടിത്തു),, or lead to the dropping of an initial ച(ചിറകു— ഇറകു; ചേട്ട— ഏട്ട). Old ച is also found lapsing into ശ (അര ചു— അരശു, പുതുച്ചേരി— ശ്ശേരി and സ (ഉ രുസുക, തുറസ്സ്). For etymological researches this is perhaps the most difficult letter. (In C. & Tu. ക represents frequently initial ച,, as ചെവി—കിവി; ചേരം— കേരളം.

čava (Tdbh., ചര്‍വ്വണം; Te. ചവി, C. Tu. സവി taste, T. ചുവ) Chewing; the sound of it ചവെക്കു നേരേ വെടിവെച്ചു (huntg.) or ചവ കേട്ടിട്ടു. denV. ചവെക്ക to chew മാന്‍ പല്ലവം കടിച്ചു ച. യും KR. കരിന്പെന്നും ചൊല്ലി വേരോളം ച വെക്കല്ല prov. masticate in order to taste. VN. ചവച്ചല്‍ chewing.

čāǹǰāḍuγa (either ചാഞ്ഞു + ആടു ക or ചാണ്‍ + ചാടുക) 1. To reel, totter, wagger മരങ്ങള്‍ ചാ. in a storm; അവനി ചാ'ടും പ രിച്ചു Bhr. കള്ളും കടിച്ചു ചാ'ടി PT. 2. to dance, walk stately, swagger തൃക്കാല്കളും ചാഞ്ചാടിക്ക ളിയും Anj. ചാ'ടി ചെന്നാര്‍ Bhr., ചാ'ടിനിന്നു വിനോദിക്ക Nal., അവളുടെ ചാ'ടി നടകളും ക ണ്ടു DN. elastic step. ചാഞ്ചാടും വദനവും KR. a playful mouth.—VN. ചാ'ട്ടം (1) & uneasiness.

čuṇḍu T. M. (T. ചുട്ടു = ചൂണ്ടു) What points (C. Te. ചുഞ്ചു) 1. A short beak or bill (the long bill is: കൊക്കു). പൈങ്കിളിച്ചുണ്ടോടു സംഗത്തെ കോലുന്ന നാസിക CG. മരാമരം ചു ണ്ടും കടിച്ചു പൊരിച്ചാന്‍ KR. 2. lips (= ചി റി) ചുണ്ടിന്മേല്‍ വാളൂന്നി നിന്നുകൊള്‍ TP. കോ മളച്ചുണ്ടു പിളുക്കും CG.
