čappa So. Palg. (vu. T. what is flattened; leanness, of S. ചര്‍പ flat, Winsl.) = ചപ്പട്ട; see ചപ്പു. ചപ്പത്തുണി etc.,— മൂരി So. Palg. inferior cloth, cattle, (prh. ചപ്പന്‍തുണി etc.?). ചപ്പമൂക്കു So. T. = ചപ്പിയ മൂക്കു q. v. ചപ്പം see ചപ്പു.

čappaṇṇam T. M. (ചപ്പു) Cæsalpinia sappan, growing in 4 stages, 1. തൈ. 2. മുള്‍ വെച്ചതു. 3. ചുവപ്പു വെച്ചതു when the colour commences to form, which of old served to dye the bodies of warriors. 4. മുള്‍ തൊഴിഞ്ഞതു, at the ago of 10-12 years.

čapparam T. C. Te. M. (ചപ്പു ?) 1. A shed or thatch മണത്തണച്ചപ്പാരം (sic.) വാതു ക്കല്‍ TP. ചപ്പാരം ക്ഷേത്രം where the Nāyars eat. 2. litter of an idol, ശപ്രം V1., & place where it is kept. ചപ്രത്തലയന്‍ a man, who wears his hair hanging down like a thatch. ചപ്രമഞ്ചം canopied chair or bedstead ച'ത്തില്‍ ചാരി നിദ്ര ചെയ്യുന്നു KR5. In VyM. തപ്രമ ഞ്ചകട്ടില്‍ = ശയ്യ.

čappụ (Tdbh.; ശഷ്പം) 1. Leaf, esp. plantain leaf. ചപ്പുടുക്ക in hunting f. i. ചപ്പെടു ത്തുടുത്തു കെട്ടിയണെച്ചു കുന്നടുക്കേ ചെല്ക. — something of little value; എങ്ങനെയും വല്ല ചപ്പും ചവറും കയററി ഓടെണം TR. get some cargo anyhow. 2. a branch with leaves serving for an interdict (= തോല്‍ വെക്ക) വീ ടടെച്ചു ചപ്പും ഇട്ടു & ചപ്പെടുക്ക TR. čavar̀ụ (& ചവര്‍ q.v.) 1. Green leaves & rubbish used as manure (= തുപ്പു). ചപ്പും ച വറും തിന്നു കഴികയില്ല cannot live upon nothing.
