ka represents in Tdbh. the other gutturals (ചങ്കു fr. ശംഖം, കിരിയം fr. ഗൃഹം, കനം fr. ഘനം; കേമം, പക്കം fr. ക്ഷേമം, പക്ഷം; വ രാകന്‍ a M. fr. വരാഹന്‍). ക in the middle of words slides into യ (അരികത്തു, അരിയത്തു), വ (അക, അവ), ഹ (ആഹെ, വഹ TR.) or disappears (പുരുഷകാരം — പുരുഷാരം, ആകും — ആം, എടുത്തുകൊള്ളു — എടുത്തോളു, ഏറനാട്ടു കര — ട്ടര, ചെരിപ്പുകുത്തി — പ്പൂത്തി.).

kimabi S. (കിം) = കിഞ്ചില്‍ f. i. കി. നഹിഭയം AR. No fear whatever. tar̀a T. M. (C. തരവു, fr. C. Te. തറു to sink in) 1. Foundation (പല്ലിനു തറ ഇട്ടു the tooth is forming); the stone-rows of a house, the site of a house. 2. a mound, elevated ground; an altar, as പൂത്തറ, കല്‍ത്തറ, മണ്‍തറ V1.; ആറാട്ടുതറ; for a marriage ചെത്തിയടിച്ചു പുര ത്തില്‍ എങ്ങും നല്‍ത്തറയിട്ടു മെഴുകിയല്ലോ Anj.; a mound raised at the bottom of a tree, നികും ഭില ആല്ത്തറമേലേറി AR., അരയാ (ല്‍) ത്തറ etc. ആല്‍ത്തറമുകളേറി കാററും ഏററിരിക്കും SiPu. 3. ground (in T. = ധര) നിന്നെ അടല്‍ത്തറ മേല്‍ വീഴ്ത്തി RC. (compar. to attentive hearing). തറവാടു (പാടു) 1. a house, chiefly of noblemen (൩൨തറവാട്ടുനായര്‍ under Porḷātiri), ancestral residence of land-owners നായായി പി റക്കിലും തറവാട്ടില്‍ പിറക്കേണം prov. 2. family. തറവാട്ടുകാരന്‍, (& തറവാടി B.) a householder, great proprietor; a Sūdra of the 6 uppermost classes (കുറുപ്പു etc.); member of the family, jud.; (mod.) educated & well to do people in any caste, മാനമര്യാദക്കാരന്‍. തറവാടുപുലര്‍ത്തി (loc.) = നടുതലക്കോപ്പുകള്‍. തറവാട്ടുമുതല്‍ unalienable family-property.

tāḷi T. M. (താള്‍) 1. A creeper, the leaves of which are used in cleansing the head before bathing or in washing off the oil rubbed on the body, താ'യും തേച്ചു തല ഒലുന്പി, താ'ത്തരി തട്ടി TP. esp. ഏച്ചില്‍ത്താ. 2. നാലു താളി or 4 തോല്‍ plants used as signs of an interdict, തിരു മുടിത്താളി വെച്ചു വിരോധിച്ചു TR.; വെള്ളില etc. 3. Tdbh. of ഭൂതി : തിന്മാന്‍ വളരേ പൂ. പ ഞ്ചപൂതി അഞ്ചും തെളിഞ്ഞു No. vu. fully satisfied. പൂതിയുണര്‍ത്തി a Stercoria (= പീനാറി or മീ ന്നാറി). പൂതിവക്ത്രം S. a bad smelling mouth. Nid 39. (പൂ:) പൂത്തട്ടം a salver for presenting flowers. പൂത്തരിഞ്ഞി Sk 2. a flower-tree (or പൂങ്കു റിഞ്ഞി?). പൂത്തറ an altar of earth = അട്ടാലം KM. chiefly of Kāḷi in കളരി. — No. also for ഓണം = മാ തോര്‍ തറ Palg. പൂത്താട 1. a kind of rice (മോടന്‍). 2. a fish. പൂത്താടി N. pr. a deity of mountaineers. പൂത്താലി (see താലി) N. pr. fem. പൂദ്വാരം V1. a city-gate. പൂനന്പി KU. = പുഷ്പകന്‍ N. pr. of a caste. പൂനീര്‍ = പനിനീര്‍ rose-water.
