koṭṭa 1. T. M. C. (as tribute). കൊട്ടയാടുക to shake as a dry cocoanut (So. to be tormented. കൊട്ടയാട്ടുക to torment B.) 2. (= കൂട) basket, അവര്‍ കൊട്ടയിലും പാള യിലും ആയി children in cradles, etc. kinds: അടിക്കൊട്ട for sweepings, building with mud. കിളി-, ചാലി-, പൂട്ടു- all these of palm leaves, മരക്കൊട്ട bucket in a boat, ചൂരല്‍-, പൂഴി-, വട്ട etc. നെയ്ക, മെട യുക V1. to make baskets. Hence: കൊട്ടക്കോരിക B. bucket. കൊട്ടത്തടം stone floor of a bath, place to hold water, to wash rice, etc. ആട്ടം മുട്ടിയാല്‍ കൊ'ത്തില്‍ prov. കൊ'ത്തില്‍ ഒരു മുല്ലമരം TP. കൊട്ടത്തളം the same. കൊട്ടപ്പാടു 1. a basket fall of earth. 2. kaḷukkuγa So. = ഉളുക്കു To sprain.

kaḷḷi 1. f. of കള്ളന്‍, കള്ളിപ്പേനിനെ PT. 2. = കളം Square space, square holes for planting, garden bed. ക. ഉള്ള പെട്ടകം V2. box with partitions, ഒരു ക.വരെച്ചു MR. opened a column for separate entries, ക. കൊത്തി നികത്തുക squares of chessboard. ക. മുട്ടി to have no more a place to stand on, to be beaten. എന്‍റെ ക ള്ളിയില്‍ on my side or party. — (loc.) a stable; space between the ribs of a boat. 3. (in hell). കള്ളിമുള്ളന്‍ So. a kind of hedgehog, worst kind of small-pox. കള്ളിപ്പാല No. a shrub, when cut, the face & even the body of some persons will swell (lasting for 1 — 2 days). കള്ളു see കള്‍; കള്ളൊപ്പു see കള്ളം.

koṇṇụ (C. bent) T. M. 1. prob. Mountain declivity, N. pr. of the Chēra or Kēraḷa country, esp. the country about Coimbatoor (similar കുടകു). 2. Bauhinia variegata. Hence: കൊങ്ങന്‍ = ചേരന്‍ a M. കൊങ്ങന്‍ കോഴി = ജാതിക്കോഴി. കൊങ്ങാഴി (see കൊങ്ങാ), a measure of 2½ നെല്ലു. കൊങ്ങുചക്കു AR. a peculiar oil-mill (as about Coimbatoor). കൊങ്ങിയന്‍ N. pr. a caste (86 in Taḷiparamb/?/).

kuġmaḷam S. (better കുട്മളം) An opening flowerbud. കു. കണ്ടുള്ള വണ്ടുപോലെ CG.

Ar. kāfir Negro; also കാഫിര്‍ infidel, hence: So. കാവ്യര്‍ heathen (Nasr.) കാപ്യഭാവം 1. S. = കാപേയം. 2. So. കാപ്യ കരം Confession; കാപ്യകാരന്‍ penitent (Nasr.)

kēṇi T. M. C. l. (കിണറു) Temporary well or tank, hole dug in a river's bed. തോട രുവികേണികള്‍ ഇവെല്ലാം, കേണിതടാകം മ ററും RC. — നെടുങ്കേണി = സരസ്സ്. 2. (Tu. ക ണി, C. Te. ഗ —) a mine.
