čīrpụ No. = ചീപ്പു 1. A comb. 2. a bolt, bar. വാതിലിന്‍റെ ചീ. പുറത്തുനിന്നു കുത്തി തു റന്നു MR. 3. the door of a floodgate, also a sluice, gutter.

čuri T. M. 1. Round hole pierced through Olas to thread them V1., So. 2. = ചുരിനാരാ യം the instrument which makes the hole. ചുരിപണയം a pledge, the possession of which is not given to the creditor (see ചൂണ്ടി).

čuraṇḍuγa T.M. (& ചി —, C. കെ രണ്ടു) To scratch, scrape. — VN. ചുരണ്ടല്‍ V1. ചുരമാന്തുക to scrape the ground as a bull in rage, to paw = ഖുരക്ഷേപണം (see ഖുരം); കൂ ററന്‍ ചു'ന്തി നില്ക്കുന്നു Bhr. ചുരവു a scraper = ചിരവ.

čappa So. Palg. (vu. T. what is flattened; leanness, of S. ചര്‍പ flat, Winsl.) = ചപ്പട്ട; see ചപ്പു. ചപ്പത്തുണി etc.,— മൂരി So. Palg. inferior cloth, cattle, (prh. ചപ്പന്‍തുണി etc.?). ചപ്പമൂക്കു So. T. = ചപ്പിയ മൂക്കു q. v. ചപ്പം see ചപ്പു.

čīr̀ = ചീര്‍ 2. (ശ്രീ) Good condition, luck നലമീടും ചീറരുളുംവീരന്‍ RC. — also N. pr. fem. ചീറുന്പ = ശ്രീകുറുന്പ N. pr. the Kāḷi of Koḍuṇgalūr, mother of small-pox, ചീറുന്പയാണ etc.

čīVīḍụ = ചിള്‍വീടു Cricket; in MC 13. called ചീടു.

čakkara (Tdbh.; ശര്‍ക്കര) Jaggory, palm-sugar. ച'ക്ക് അകവും പുറവും ഒക്കും, ആനെ ക്കു ച. പന prov. (ആനച്ചക്കര a creeper eaten by elephants). Hence: ചക്കരക്കത്തിക്കാരന്‍ see കത്തി. ചക്കരക്കള്ളു toddy for making sugar (called ചക്കരക്കട്ടി). ചക്കരക്കള്ളന്‍ a red ant. ചക്കരപ്പാവു B. raw sugar, syrup; the inspissated palmyra-juice. Palg. ചക്കരപ്പൊട്ടിക്ക = ഞെട്ടാഞെടുങ്ങു.
