čappụ (Tdbh.; ശഷ്പം) 1. čēγuγa T. M. (a C. കേ to lie) To get upon trees, to roost, also ചേക്കുക, ക്കി V1. VN. ചേകല്‍, ചേയല്‍ a roost. ചേയലിന്നു വ ന്ന കോഴി come to lay eggs; ചേയല്‍മരം (f.i. of peacocks). ചേക്ക T. So. resting place of animals (birds, buffaloes), with ഇരിക്ക, ഏറുക to roost. ചേക്കു 1. roosting & breeding place കാക്കെക്കു ചേക്കിടം കൊടുത്താല്‍ prov. 2. So. gambling; ചേ. കളിക്ക to gamble.

čēδana S. (ചില്‍) Consciousness, life ചേതനയോടു പിരിഞ്ഞു CG. died. തല്ലി ചേ. പോക്കി killed; ചേ. പോക്കിന പൈതങ്ങള്‍ CG., ചേ. പോയാല്‍ കായം ൪ നാള്‍ കിടക്കില്‍ ഓരാവതും ഇല്ല VCh. ചേതനന്‍ conscious. ഭൂതങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്ളത്തില്‍ ചേ. ആയോന്‍ CG. the soul of the world. ചേതവാന്‍ id. താന്‍ ഒരു ചേതവാനായി ഭവി ക്കുന്നു AR. (In S. ചേതനാവാന്‍ or ചേ തോമാന്‍). ചേതസ്സ് mind സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗനരകങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തന്‍റെ ചേ. ഉപാദാനമാകുന്നു Adw. S. ചേതസാ with the mind (opp. വാചാ, കര്‍മ്മണാ). ചേതോ വിഷാദം VetC. etc. = മനം, ഉള്‍. In aM. ചേത; as നിശാചരമുടിവിനു കരുതി ചേ തയില്‍ RC.

čimbuγa (ചിമ) To twinkle with the eyes. കണ്ണുകള്‍ തങ്ങളെ ചി'ന്നിതു ചിലര്‍ Bhr. — to close the eyes V1. നേത്രങ്ങള്‍ ചിന്പി തരസാ മിഴിച്ചാള്‍ CC. (al. ചിമ്മിത്തരസാ). ചിന്പുകണ്ണന്‍ V1. winking with the eyes. CV. ചിന്പിക്ക. V1. to cause it. ചിമ്മുക mod. M. id. കണ്ണുചിമ്മി ഇരുട്ടാക്കി prov. ചിമ്മാനം see ചിന്മാനം.

čuḍar T. M. (√ ചുടു) Fire, brightness ചു ടരിലകും വിമാനം, മണി RC. വെയിലിന്‍റെ ചു. glare. — of fiery spirits (arrack) — & of the mind അകഞ്ചുടര്‍ രണ്ടതാകി‍ Pay. (broken spirit).

čuṇṇam Tdbh., ചൂര്‍ണ്ണം. Powdered അ രക്കരെ ചു'മായിക്കളഞ്ഞു RC. ചുണ്ണാന്പു T. C. Te. M. 1. chunam, lime chiefly as chewed with betel (= കുമ്മായം, നൂറു.) ചു. നീററുക V1. to slake lime. 2. (obsc.) coitus. ചുണ്ണാന്പുവള്ളി Cissus glauca. Rh.

čiṇarkuγa (and തി —) To swell, to be inflated, to congeal (T. ചിണുക്കു = ചിക്കു).

čaral (C. ചട്ടു, C. Te. ഗരസു) Gravel, also ചരക്കല്ല്. അവര്‍ക്കു രത്നം ചരക്കല്ലുപോലെ Si Pu. ചരക്കല്ലുകള്‍ വര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നു Bhg. in a whirlwind.—coarse sand ചരലില്‍ കിടന്നു RS. slept on the ground. ചരല്‍വഴി gravel path.
