čerippu T. M. (C. Te. Tu. ചെപ്പു, കെര്‍പ്പു) 1. (which is also a shoe. wearer).

čāyam (Tdbh., ഛായം) Colour, dye, paint. — ചാ. കയെററുക to dye, paint. ച. കാച്ചുക, മുക്കുക to dye, & ചായത്തില്‍ മുക്കി. ചായക്കാരന്‍ a dyer. ചായത്തൈലം & പച്ചച്ചാ. lemon grass-oil. ചായപ്പുടവ dyed or coloured garment. ചായവേര്‍ the Chayroot, Oldenlandia umbellata.

čīni (prob. Chinese?) 1. (T. sugar, but also C. ശീ = തീ sweet) ചീനിക്കിഴങ്ങു = ചീന ക്കി., മരക്കിഴങ്ങു Convolvulus batatas. പെരു ഞ്ചീനി B. the name of a tree or plant. — ചീനി ക്കായ് B. = ചീക്കക്കായ് q. v. 2. a flute ചീന ക്കുഴല്‍, ചീങ്കുഴല്‍ (also A. šīn). ചീനിക്കാരന്‍ a musician. 3. an anchor, grapnel ചീ. ഇടുക, താഴ്ത്തുക,, opp. എടുക്ക V1. — ചീനിക്കയറു a cable. — ചീനിക്കാണം V2. anchorage.

čabalam S. (√ കന്പ്) Shaking, agile, fickle, inconstant. ചപലന്‍ lightminded, ചപല a wanton. ചപലതകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാം ChVr. deviations from rectitude ച. കള്‍ ചൊല്ലി Bhg.

čuṇṇuγa So. To grow dry or lean, to be reduced (= ചുക്കുക, ചുരുങ്ങുക).

čīvūri (ജീവന്‍?) Breath, vu. ചീ. ക ഴിച്ചില്ല gave no sign of life; had his mouth stopped.

čir̀aγụ T. M. (= ഇറകു) 1. A wing ചി. പരത്തുക, വീശുക MC. ചി. കുടഞ്ഞുതട്ടിക്കൂകി (a cock). — മല ചിറകററു വീണതുപോലെ AR. allusion to the myth of mountains having wings, till Indra cut them off. 2. the fin of a fish. ശ്രാവിന്‍ ചിറകു shark-fins. — the feather of an arrow; a piece of wood at the end of a canoe, etc. ചിറകന്‍ = മയില്‍, കൊക്കു‍ (huntg.) ചിറകിന്നടി the root of a wing.

čoṭṭa (Te. Tu. C. Te. distorted, deformed = ചൊള്ളു, H. čhōṭa fr. ക്ഷുദ്രം small, petty) 1. Dagger, also ചൊട്ടക,, so ചുരികയും ചൊട്ട യും KR. കനമിയല്‍ ചൊട്ട മുള്‍ക്കരപന്തി RC. 2. smallness. ചൊട്ടയിലേ ശീലം ചുടലയിലേ മാറുള്ളു prov. infancy. ചൊട്ടയില്‍ കയറി = വി കൃതിയായിപ്പോയി. 3. No. = ചൊട്ടി a bose, knob or ornamental dot on knife-handles etc.; a knob into which the blade of a knife & a style are fixed. 4. a palm flower before bursting. B. 5. N. pr. male. ചൊട്ടാള്‍ (2) a small man. ചൊട്ടക്കോല്‍ (1) വാളും ചുരികയും ചൊ'ലും Pay. ചൊട്ടച്ചാണ്‍ 1. (C. Tu. ചോട്ടു) span of the thumb & forefinger (= പ്രാദേശം). 2. = 1½ spans എന്‍റെ ചൊ'ണ്‍ വയറു my little stomach. ചൊട്ടപ്പൂട്ടു a padlock. ചൊട്ടവാള്‍ (1) a small sword.
