tuḍi T. M. C. (lip, Tu. ദുഡി extremity, fr. തു ടു). 1. A small drum (C. Te. തുടുമു). Kinds: കടു ന്തു., കുറുന്തു., നെടുന്തു.— It is shaped like an hourglass, hence തുടിയിടപോലോരരയില്‍ DN.; തുടിയിട പോലേ വടിവുടയൊരു പിടിനടു KR.; പൊററുടി (= പൊല്‍ തുടി) നടുവിനു നേ൪ RC. — ഉരലിനു മുറിച്ചാലേ തുടിക്കു കണക്കാവു prov. — തുടി മുട്ടിക്കൊണേടു നടക്കു to publish a secret. തുടിയടിക്ക, കൊട്ടുക to proclaim. 2. T. So. cardamoms. 3. a measure, (S. ത്രുടി = 30 അ ല്പം). മുപ്പതു തുടിക്കൊരു കല എന്നതും ചൊല്ലും Bhg. 3. = തുടിപ്പു. തുടിംപാളക്കിഴങ്ങു an Epidendron, esp. on Strychnos (= പറകെട്ടി).

tuǹbam T. aM. (aT. തുനി = ദുര്‍). Affliction, വഴിമേല്‍ വന്ന തുന്‍പവും RC.; also തു ന്പങ്ങള്‍ നീക്കി HNK. (opp. ഇന്‍പം); തുന്പമെ ന്നിയേ ജന്മൌഷധം Bhg,

tiraṇḍi (T. തിരുക്ക) A large flat sea-fish, ray or skate, said to wound venomously (chiefly the kind കാക്കത്തിരണ്ടി) with the spikes on the tail, തി. കുത്തിയാല്‍ കായുന്നതി ന്നു, തി. വിഷത്തിന്നു a. med. തി. മുള്ളു etc.; വാന്‍തിരണ്ട RS 13. തിരണ്ടു p.t., see തിരള്‍. തിരപ്പം see under തിര.

tuṭṭụ T. M. (C. Te. Tu. ദുഡ്ഡു, fr. C. Tu. ദുഡു to acquire wealth). A copper coin = 20 cash or ½ pice. അകലേ പോന്നവനെ അരികേ വിളി ച്ചാല്‍ അരക്കാത്തുട്ടു ചേതം prov. തുട്ടുഉറുപ്പ്യ TR. a Rupee, worth 360 Reas in 1799. തുട്ടി SoM. a fine (on wages or salary).

tuṇḍam T. M. C. Te. & തുണ്ടു 5. (തു ണി) A piece, bit, slice. തു'ങ്ങളാക്കി MC. tore to pieces. ചേര തിന്നുന്ന നാട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ നടു ത്തുണ്ടം തിന്നോളു prov. ഒാലത്തുണ്ടം a shred of leaf. Hence: തുണ്ടന്‍ Te. C. Tu. No. insolent. തുണ്ടന്മാ രെ കുടക്കൂടി രാജ്യത്ത് അന൪ത്ഥം കാട്ടുക TR. to join the rebels. തുണ്ടത്തരം കാട്ടുക TR. to behave insolently (തുണ്ടിരി V1., T. തുണ്ടരിക്കം, Te. — കമു). denV. തുണ്ടിക്ക 1. to cut to pieces, മെയ്ക്കൊണ്ടു തു' ച്ച ശകലങ്ങള്‍, വാരണങ്ങള്‍ തുണ്ടിച്ചു RC. വെട്ടുകള്‍കൊണ്ടു തുണ്ടിച്ചു മുടക്കയും Bhr. to obstruct the way by slaughtered elephants. 2. cut off, as the throat, കണ്ഠത്തെ ഖണ്ഡിച്ചു തുണ്ടിച്ചു CG. തുണ്ടുഞായം contradictory words — തു. ക്കാരന്‍ of a wrangling, capricious spirit, (തുണ്ടത്ത രം). തുണ്ടുചീട്ടു a temporary receipt, as for part of rent or taxes, അധികാരി കൊടുത്തു തുണ്ടു ശീട്ടു MR. തുണ്ടു —, തുണ്ടംപറന്പു No. a diminished compound.

tēγuγa & തേവുക M. (Tu. C. to sprinkle, Te. C. ദേവു to take out of the water) 1. To draw water, empty a well, bale out for irrigation. വിളകള്‍ക്കു (കണ്ടത്തിലേക്കു) വെള്ളം തേവി MR. watered the crops. തേകും ജലാ ന്തരത്തൂടെ കടന്നു PT. a fish escaped out of an emptying tank. വെള്ളം തേകീട്ടു മേല്പട്ടാക്കി irrigated. 2. No. to spatter, തങ്ങളില്‍ തേകി ത്തുടങ്ങിനാര്‍ കോമളക്കൈകൊണ്ടു CG. (in the river). തേക്കുകൊട്ട a watering bucket, V1. തേക്കുതോ ണി a boat for watering = തോണിത്തുലാം.
