Long മുണ്ട നോ ദീര്‍ഘനോ Nal. dwarfish or tall? ചുടുചുട ദീര്‍ഘമായി വീര്‍ക്ക KR. to sigh. ദീ. ഇരിക്കയില്ല മുതല്‍ Sah. last long. 2. length പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ദീ. വളരേ ചെല്ലുന്നു TR. it might be too long. ദീ. തീര്‍ക്ക to settle the length of a house. ബുദ്ധി ദീ. കണ്ടു Bhg. great wisdom, ദീ'മാക്ക to protract. 3. (gram.) the sign of length — ാ — Hence: ദീര്‍ഘത length. ദീര്‍ഘദര്‍ശി far-seeing, ദീ. യാം സുഗ്രീവനേ നോ ക്കി KR.; ദീര്‍ഘനിശ്വാസവും ദീനഭാവങ്ങളും ദീ. ക്കു വളര്‍ന്നു Nal. to the king. — a sage = ത്രികാലജ്ഞന്‍. — ദാക്ഷിണ്യം വേ ണം നല്ല ദീര്‍ഘദര്‍ശിത്വം പിന്നേ VCh. far-sightedness, foresight (= ദീര്‍ഘദൃഷ്ടി). ദീര്‍ഘനിദ്ര long sleep, death. ദീര്‍ഘബാഹു KR. long-armed, as behoves a Kshatriya. ദീര്‍ഘവിചാരണ an enlarged mind. ദീ'ണെക്കു ശക്തനല്ല MR. weak minded. ദീര്‍ഘശ്വാസം a sigh, gasp. ദീര്‍ഘസൂത്രം long-threaded, tedious — ദീ. ന്‍ dilatory, slow VCh. ദീര്‍ഘായുസ്സ് 1. longevity. ദീ'യുരസ്തുതേ Bhg. live long! 2. adj. long-lived, അവന്‍ ദീ'സ്സായ്ഭ വിച്ചു Bhg.; also ദീര്‍ഘായുവാം VetC., ദീര്‍ഘായു ഷ്മാന്‍ AR. ദീര്‍ഘാവലോകനം VCh.; ദീ. ഉള്ളവന്‍ far-sighted, as a politician. ദീര്‍ഘിക a long pond. Initiation, esp. for sacrifice; all the observances. 2. consecration. ശിവദീക്ഷ V1. devoting oneself to Siva = ശൈവം. — ഗര്‍ഭദീക്ഷ (Brahmans not shaving during each pregnancy of their wives; low castes seldom & then only during the first one). 3. mourning & ceremonies for the deceased, (in lower castes വാലാ യ്മ). dviγam S. (ദ്വി, two). Two-fold = ദ്വയം. ദ്വിഗുണം double, ഒക്കയും ദ്വി'മായ് വന്നു KR. ദ്വിജന്‍ twice-born; an Arya and esp. Brahman. darbha S. (ദര്‍ഭം) Poa cynosuroideB (= കുശ). ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ ശേഷക്രിയെക്കു ദര്‍ഭപ്പുല്ലും തുള സിയും Anach. ദര്‍ഭകള്‍ വിരിക്ക Bhg. to spread holy grass, as for a dying Brahman to lie on. — a kind: ആററുദര്‍ഭ‍ Saccharum spontaneum, (ആററുതെര്‍പ്പയുടെ വേര്‍ a. med.). ദര്‍ഭം S. tuft of grass, വിരിച്ച ദര്‍ഭങ്ങളില്‍ ശയി ച്ചാര്‍ slept on grass; also കുശദര്‍ഭകളില്‍ ശ യിച്ചു KR. ദര്‍ഭാസനം, f. i. ദ'നസ്ഥിതനായി Bhg.
