M. നെടു) Long, tall, straight. — VN. നീടു, നീള്‍, നീഴ്. നിടിയരി rice not broken by pounding, (opp. നുറുക്കരി); also നിടിയതു. നിടിയോന്‍ 1. a tall person. നി'ന്‍റെ തലയില്‍ വടി prov. the highest is most endangered. 2. a creeper = നരന്ത. നിടുങ്കണ്‍ a large eye, നീല നി. മടന്തയര്‍ RC. — കുടിലനെടുങ്കണ്ണി RC. നിടുങ്കയറു a long cord, tow; so നിടുങ്കാലം etc. neutr. നിടുതു: നീള നിടുതായി വീര്‍ക്കും CG.; തടി മെലിച്ചിട്ടു നിടുതായിട്ടിരുന്നു tall. jud. Inf. നിടുനിട: നി. ശ്വാസം തെരുതെര വീര്‍ത്തു KR. VN. നിടുപ്പം length, tallness. നിടുന്പുര a long building; barracks; a temporary shed or scaffold. നിടുവാള്‍ prov. a long sword. നിടുവീര്‍പ്പു & നെ — sighing. നിടുവെല്ലു the spine; a shin (see നിട്ടല്‍). നിട്ടല്‍ a shin, also മൂക്കിന്‍റെ നിട്ട ലോളം തിന്നുക No. vu. (= പാലം) till the bridge of the nose. നിട്ടെന in standing posture, perpendicularly, also നിഠന, നിഢ്ഢന. നിഢ്ഢനരി rice of long grain; (thought indigestible).

nir̀a 5. l. Fullness. പൊന്നിറവാങ്ങി TR. (in title-deeds) the value in full. 2. a weight (see നിറുക്ക). esp. of 100 പലം: നിറയതു ഭാരത്തി ന്നന്പോടിരിപതുമാം CS. = 1/20 Bhāram. 3. bending a bow, loading & (So.) cocking a gun.

nūṭṭa No. (നൂളുക?, നൂഴുക?), നൂത്ത No. loc., നുത്ത V1. q. v. A gap in a fence, ഉക്കത്തു പു ണ്ണുള്ളവന്‍ നൂട്ട നൂഴവാന്‍ പാടില്ല prov.; നായ്നൂ ട്ട for dogs; a conduit നൂട്ട അടെക്ക (= കഴാ). നുണാമരം B. = കടല്പിലാവു Morinda.

nańńa (T. Te. നഞ്ചൈ irrigated ground? നന്‍) in നഞ്ഞനാടി So. A cache built to hide treasure.

nabhassụ S.,(G. nephos.L. nubes). A cloud, the sky നഭസി പൊങ്ങും വിമാനം RS.; പുഷ്പവൃഷ്ടി ഉണ്ടായി നഭസ്സിന്നു KR. from heaven. — നഭസ്തലേ മഴക്കാറു Si Pu. in the firmament. — നഭോമണി the sun. നഭാവു=നവാബ് Nawāb. ന്‍൫൫ ആണ്ടു തലശ്ശേരിയിന്നു നഭാവായിട്ടു പട ആയി TR. with Haidar.

nāġam S. 1. A snake, esp. the Cobra (fr. നഗ്നം?). മണി നാ'ങ്ങള്‍ കരിനാ'ങ്ങളും പു നഃ PR. (the latter a very large hooded snake). 2. myth, serpents with human faces, that once ruled in Kēraḷa KU. 3. an elephant (po.). നാഗകേശരം = നാഗപ്പൂ (or Pentapetes phœnicia Rh.). നാഗച്ചെന്പു B. pinchbeck. നാഗണത്തി V1. a bird. (നാകണച്ചയനന്‍ RC. fr. നാകു, അണ, ശയനന്‍ = നാഗശായി). നാഗത്താളിV1. Trichosanthes anguina, (also = കുലച്ചില്‍). B. = Cactus. നാഗത്താന്‍ (hon.) a serpent as worshipped in Kéraḷa. നാ'ന്മാര്‍കോട്ട, vu. നാര്‍ത്താന്‍ കോട്ടം tree & fane inhabited by a consecrated serpent. നാഗദന്തി GP 64. Iatropha glauoa (or Tiaridium Ind.), നാകോന്തി a. med. നാഗപടം a neck-ornament in the shape of a serpent's hood, നാഗപടക്കുഴ, പൊന്നിന്നു ള്ള നാകപടം TR.; നാ. ബിംബത്തിന്നു ചാ ര്‍ത്തി MR. — നാഗപടക്കോവ id. with 7 or 9 തൊത്തും പടവും from which ഞേലി or പാററ are suspended & having together the appearance of one serpent's hood — (also ear-ornament V1.). നാഗപട്ടണം N. pr., the town Negapatam. നാഗപുരി N. pr., a fane of നാഗേശന്‍; the residence of a younger branch of Travancore KM.

mīrāǰanam S. (നി, രാജ്) Lustration of arms. നീരുക = നിവിരുക, f.i. പടികയറിപ്പടി നീ രുന്നല്ലേ TP. appears aloft. (നൂരുക Palg.). നീ൪ക്ക 1. see നിവി൪ക്ക. 2. v. n. to swell (prh. നീ൪ 2?). നീ൪ത്തിതു ഭയം ഉള്ളില്‍ KR. grew.
