nāṇiyam 5. (S. നാണകം a coin, prob. fr. നാണം) 1. Honesty, credit നാ'ത്തി ന്ന് ഒരു ഹാനി വരാതേ without sacrifice of dignity. നാ'ത്തിന്നുവെട്ടിക്കൊള്ളുക* ഇനി വേ ണ്ടു Mud. for honor's sake. നാ'ത്തിന്നു ചാപ ങ്ങള്‍ മുറിക്കയും Mud. — esp. fame. നാ'മാക്ക to celebrate, also of ill-fame. കൃതഘ്നന്‍ എന്നു ള്ളൊരു നാ. നീളേ നടക്കും Mud. all will call him ungrateful. 2. what is current, as reports, proverbs, പുതുനാണ്യം T. V1. news; customs of the country (in Te. also നാഡ്യം & നാണ്യം, fr. നാടു?) 3. a coin, esp. a gold-coin; നാ. നട ത്തുക to issue money. ഈ നാണ്യം അടിച്ചിട്ടും നടപ്പാക്കീടും ഇല്ല TR. neither coined nor circulated. കള്ളനാ. nīǰam S. (ന്യഞ്ച്). Low, also of sound സ്വരം അത്യുച്ചമില്ലതിനീചവും KR.; നീചരില്‍ ചെയ്ത ഉപകാരം prov. benefits to mean persons. നീചഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ = രാഹു, കേതു (astr.) നീചജാതി low-caste = താണ — 449. നീചത്വം mean condition (നീ. മമ ജാതിക്കുണ്ടു Mud.) നീചവൃത്തിക്കാരന്‍ of mean habits. നീചൈഃ low, adv. നീചൈസ്തരാം with a low voice. nāḷ T. M. (C. in നാള, Te. നാഡു, Susi inscr. nān; perh. aT. നള്‍ = നടു?) 1. A day of 24 hours, നാള്‍ രണ്ടുദിപ്പിന്നിടയല്ലോ CS. The ന is lost in മററാള്‍, അത്രാള്‍, നുമ്മാള്‍ etc. The temporal Dative with ഏ, as എത്ര നാളേ ക്കു പൊറുക്കേണം ഇങ്ങനേ AR. 2. the astrological day & the നക്ഷത്രം that governs it (ആണ്‍നാ., പെണ്‍നാ. etc.). നാളും പൊരുത്ത വും നോക്കി നിശ്ചയിക്ക Anach. (for marriage). അതിന്നു നാളും നേരവും ആക്കി KN. 3. time in general. എല്ലാ നാളേക്കും Bhg. for ever. ദൈ വം ഉളള നാള്‍ മറക്കുമോ Nal.; നടക്കുന്നാള്‍ KU.; നന്ദന്‍ ഉള്ളൊരു നാള്‍ Mud. during N's reign. ഡീപ്പുസുല്ത്താന്‍റെ നാളില്‍ നടന്നപ്രകാരം TR.; ഇപ്രാണന്‍ ഉളള നാളേപ്പോലേ KU. as long as we live. ഒരു നാളുമില്ല also: not under any circumstances.
