niḍalam S. (= നെററി, fr. നിടു). The forehead, (നിടലക്കുഴി temples); gen. നിടിലം, as നിടിലത്തില്‍ വിയര്‍ത്തീടും VyM. നിടിലക്ക ണ്ണന്‍, നിടിലക്കനല്‍ Anj. (Siva's 3rd eye). — also നിടാലം (സുന്ദരനിടാലന്‍ KR.) നിട്ടാന്തം No. vu. = ദൃഷ്ടാന്തം.

nāyaγam S. (നീ). 1. Leading പട നാ. ചെയ്കിന്‍റ Jew. doc. the General, നാ. ആ യിനോര്‍ RC. chiefs. A land may be ബഹുനാ., ശിശുനാ., സ്ത്രീനാ. Mud. governed by many, by a child, etc. — ൦രംശനാ. V1. a monarchy — വേദനാ. a theocracy. ഭൂചക്രം നവനാ..ആക്കി വെച്ചു Mud. gave the land 9 kings. 2. (also നായക്കല്ലു KR., നായകക്കല്ലു AR.) the central gem in a necklace നാ. പറിച്ചപതക്കം പോലേ KR., also നടുനായകം; met. വീരന്മാര്‍ ചൂടും മകു ടത്തിന്‍ നായകക്കല്ലേ AR. the first of heroes. നായകന്‍ a chief (മൂലോകനാ. CG. God); husband. Kēraḷa is said to hold 1000 നായ കന്മാര്‍ & 1400 വീരന്മാര്‍ KU. high noblemen, generals, etc. നായകി a mistress, lady VetC., better നായിക, as നാരിമാര്‍ നായികേ, വിണ്ണവര്‍ നാ. CG. Durga; pl. hon. നായികിയാര്‍ a princess. നായക്കന്‍, (II. nāyak). 1. a corporal. ബോയി നാ. TR. the headman of hamāls. 2. നായക്ക ന്മാര്‍, — യിക്കന്മാര്‍ N. pr. a certain caste of Easterners (of Telugu origin?), chiefly tank-diggers; when they marry, the bridegroom is said to eat a cat with the bride. D. — നായിക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കു വാദ്യപ്രയോഗം KN. — Kinds: കൊങ്ങനായ്ക്കന്‍ (or ഒട്ടനായ്ക്കന്‍, f. ഒട്ടത്തി), നാട്ടുനായ്ക്കന്‍ (with മുങ്കടുമ), വടു കനായ്ക്കന്‍ (cultivators, etc.)

nāmam S. (√ ജ്ഞാ or മ്നാ) 1. A name നാ. ധരിക്ക, ഇടുക. — ദശരഥനാമ്നാ AR. (Instr.) — Esp. a name descriptive of attributes, as തിരുനാ. the names of Višṇu (generally 27, but also സഹസ്രനാ.), repeated as morning prayer. തിരുനാമങ്ങള്‍ ഇല്ലാതേ പോകയോ GnP. തിരു നാമമാഹാത്മ്യം the efficacy of such repetitions. നാ'മങ്ങള്‍ ഓതുക, ജപിക്ക Bhg. 2. a sectarian mark of Vaišṇavas ഗോപിനാമക്കുറി. 3. the noun (gram.). Hence: നാമകം bearing the name, രാമനാമക മായ മോതിരം KR. = നാമാങ്കിതം. നാമകരണം giving the infant a name = പേ രിടുക, generally on the 12th day പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ദിനം നാ. അവര്‍ക്ക് എല്ലാം KR.; also പുത്ര നു നാമകര്‍മ്മം ചെയ്ക Bhg. നാമകീര്‍ത്തനം; = നാമസങ്കീ.; തിരുനാമജപം Bhg. നാമധാരി (1) having the name; (2) wearing the Vaišṇava mark, (നാമധാരണം). നാമധേയം PT. a name. നാമമാത്രം having only the name, Bhg. നാമമാല (1) a list of holy names; (3) a dictionary. നാമവാന്‍ having the name, നാരദനാ. നന്മുനി CG. നാമര്‍ N. pr. m., കുഞ്ഞ്യാമറേപ്പാട്ടു TP. നാമവൃത്തി occupation with holy names, നിന്നു ടെ നാ. എന്നിയേ ചിന്തയില്ല KR. നാമശാലി named, എന്ന പേരോടും കൂടേ നാ' യാം സിംഹത്താന്‍ PT. നാമശേഷം of which the name only remains. ഭീമമാകിയ പരാക്രമം എല്ലാം നാ. ഇവതേ ChVr. thou, Bhīmasēna, appearst only

naṇṇuγa (T. Tu. to be close, നള്‍= നടു) 1. To remember with love & gratitude നണ്ണിവിശ്വാസമോടേ Anj. — നണ്ണാര്‍. 2. to consider അതു നണ്ണിപ്പൊറുക്കേണം Swarg. Kaly.; വീരത ഇതെന്നു നണ്ണി CG.; എന്നുള്ളില്‍ ന. Bhr. thought; (see നെണ്ണുക).

nūṭṭa No. (നൂളുക?, നൂഴുക?), നൂത്ത No. loc., നുത്ത V1. q. v. A gap in a fence, ഉക്കത്തു പു ണ്ണുള്ളവന്‍ നൂട്ട നൂഴവാന്‍ പാടില്ല prov.; നായ്നൂ ട്ട for dogs; a conduit നൂട്ട അടെക്ക (= കഴാ). നുണാമരം B. = കടല്പിലാവു Morinda.

nilavụ M.C. (T. Te. നിലുവ, VN. of നില്ക്ക) 1. Balance, also നിലവാക്കി, നിലവു ബാക്കി balance remaining in treasury. 2. arrears, pending ഈ നന്പ്ര നി. വന്നു MR. was left undecided. കാ൪യ്യം നിലവില്‍ കിടക്കുന്നു, നി ലവില്‍ വെപ്പാന്‍ സംഗതി പോരാ MR. arrear-cases.

nōγa T. M. C. (Te. നൊഞ്ചു, ച്ചു). 1.
