Kinds: കുരുപ്പരുത്തി Gossypium herbaceum (ചി ല ദിക്കില്‍ നട്ടുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന കു'രിത്തിയുടെ മാതിരി TR., also നുല്‍ പ.); കാട്ടുപ. Hibiscus Abelmoschus; ചീനപ്പ. Hib. mutabilis (prh. = ചെ റു പ.); ചെന്പ. Hib. rosa sinensis (a variety വെള്ളച്ചെന്പ.); നാട്ടുപ. from which the brahminical string is made; പൂപ്പ. Hib. populneus (= പൂവരചു Rh. = ചെന്പ. B.); മുറി പ്പ. a.med. Gossypium; വേലിപ്പ. Cynanchum extensum, growing in milk-hedges.

pu/?/a M. C. (aT. പുഴ = പുര tube, hollow, പുഴല്‍ hollow, watercourse. C. poḷe to shine = പൊഴുതു). 1. A river (in N. pr. of places ആ ലപ്പുഴ, വരാഹപ്പുഴ). നല്പുഴ വരുത്താതേ KR. Ganga. പെരിങ്ങളോനാണ്ടപുഴനീന്തേണം TP. an ordeal. പുഴക്കലോളം വന്നു vu. 2. So. a gap in a wall = കണ്ടി. പുഴക്കലേഗ്രാമം (ചിററൂര്‍അംശം, തെക്കേത്തറ) N. pr. of a Grāmam which was founded and given over by Tunǰatte/?/uttaččaǹ in the 17th century A.D. to a few Brahman families on condition that they preserve & reverence his writings copied by his daughter. The Bhāgavatam excepted all the originals were burned in a fire 30-40 years ago and have since been replaced.
