paṇḍam T. M. 1. (Tdbh.; പണ്യം) Valuables, jewels, that may serve as pawn (often = പണയം), as പൊന്‍പ. etc. 2. articles in general, ഉഴവുകൊണ്ടു പോയാക്കേണ്ടുന്ന പ. ഇവന്‍ PT. an ox; തിന്നുന്ന പ. & തീന്‍ പ. eatables. ദീവില്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതില്‍ പ. കൊണ്ടു വന്നു, ഓടിയില്‍ ഉള്ള തീന്‍ പ. കിഴിപ്പാന്‍ TR. the produce of the Laccadives = ചരക്കു (in Te. is paṇṭa produce, crop fr. പണ്‍ = പഴുക്ക). 3. (Tdbh. of ഭാണ്ഡം?) the crop of birds, stomach, craw തീന്‍ പ. V1.; ചത്ത ഉടുന്പിന്‍റെ പ. MM. (fr. പള്ള.). പണ്ടം അറുതിയായി (1) the sum advanced on a pawn with the interest due equalling the value of the article, = is forfeited. പണ്ടകം = പണ്ടംകൂറുള്ള ദ്രവ്യം V1. പണ്ടകശാല & പണ്ടശാല (T.) = പാണ്ടിശാ ല a storehouse, magazine. പണ്ടക്കായി, പണ്ടപ്പന see under പന. പണ്ടപ്പരപ്പു B. lying about like utensils; extensiveness.

parvam S. (പരുസ്സ്). 1. Knot, joint as of bamboos, limbs, etc. 2. division of time, period (esp. വാവു) season, festival. 3. comm. പരുവം the different stages of development esp. in the growth of certain plants (see തെ ങ്ങു, നെല്ലു), or the degree of ripeness in fruits (see തേങ്ങ, ചക്ക, അടക്ക). 4. a chapter, of which Bhr. has 18, hence പ. വായിക്ക to read the Bhr.; also a song in general ദുഷിപ. Nasr.; പ'ങ്ങളും കാണ്ഡങ്ങളും Bhr. & Ram. പരുവമാക T. So. (2) to be ripe, mature, opportune. ചൂടിന്നു പ. വരുത്തി moderated. ന്തുല്‍ പ'മാക്കി Trav. prepared. പ൪വ്വകാലം S. change of the moon നാളേ പ. വരുന്നു ഭ്രദേവന്മ൪ക്കന്നം നല്ക PT., also പ ൪വ്വസന്ധി.

pušyam S. (cream fr. പുഷ് as of Amrita, Ved.) = പൂയം f. i. നാള ഉരു പുഷ്യം KR. പുഷ്യ നക്ഷത്രം AR. പുഷ്യരാഗം, see പുഷ്പരാഗം.

payala No. & പകല (see പശ & പ യി 2). The pulp inside the shell forming the cocoanut. പകല കെട്ടിയ കരിക്കു, പയല ഉറെ ച്ചാല്‍ ഇളന്നീര്‍. പയല്‍ Ar. fayl Strong, corpulent; massive as furniture.

puṇġavaǹ S. (പും + ഗോ). 1. A bull, പുംഗവധ്വജന്‍റെ ചെഞ്ചിടഭാരം PT. Siva's. 2. the chief of നരപു., വാനരപു. KR. the best of men, monkeys. പുങ്ങം Tdbh. = പുംസവനം; പുങ്ങച്ചോറു etc.

pottụ M. T. (T. V1. also പൊതുന്പു, So. പോതു, C. hodaru, C. Tu. poṭre). 1. A hole in the ground ജന്തുക്കളെ പൊത്തിലടെ ക്കും ജനം Bhg. catching in holes; also a hollow in trees പിലാപ്പൊത്തിലും നില്ക്കും prov. പൊത്തോടിയ മൂള a hollow bamboo, bamboo whistling in the wind. 2. a cavity, vacuum പൊത്തിന്നു കൊടുക്ക Si Pu. to give food just enough to fill the stomach. 3. esp. the hollow hand, formed so as to receive liquids or to give a gentle slap; പൊത്തു കൊടുക്ക B. to insult by motion of the hands; പൊ. കിട്ടുക to suffer disgrace. 4. തെങ്ങിന്നു പൊ. കെട്ടുക V1.
